Subject : Slippers, mittens, scarfs!

Hi,

Well winter is nearly here if its not here already! We're freezing! We have no central heating just individual heaters in relivant rooms.
My lo's feet are cold when he's walking around any room so I was thinking of getting him slippers (20 months old in 2 days) but I'm worried he won't keep them on!

Also mittens or gloves? Which would be best?
Scarfs? I'm a little scared of letting him wear one but they all seem to come in sets?
Whats everyone else doing for this winter?!

x

We have a similar house - freezing with no central heating. I hadn't thought about getting Oscar any slippers as such but had looked at the slipper sock things in boots. I know it's advised that lo's don't wear shoes indoors but as these are soft soled I don't see the harm.

Oscar is a little younger than your lo - 12 months - but I wouldn't put him in a scarf as I'd worry he'd pull on the ends and choke himself. He has 2 hat (with ear warmer things) and mitten sets from matalan and a big duffel coat with a hood so I don't worry about him getting cold.

I am going to get him a dressing gown for Christmas to help keep the cold out a bit more, although hopefully we'll have central heating in our new house Happy

We have to have a new house. Hubby got a good job in the Lake District and we live in South Wales. We rent while we save for a house deposit so it's not a huge deal to move. We're on the council house list so hopefully it won't be too long as hubby's been up there for almost 3 weeks and I'm going mad caring for my tantrum-boy by myself LOL!

hi daisy has been in slippers for a while now from about 14 months. she currently has peppa pis slippers with velcro these stay on the best so far and im gonna get the next size up after buying lots of pairs that just dont work!! slipper socks were the worst she looked like she would break her ankles in them. scarfs not for me im afraid think they are bit dangerous at this age gloves i think im gonna try and look for mittens easier to get on and hats a nessesisty i just cant get her to keep them on xx

Hi
Lea doesnt currently have any slippers or gloves etc! I will be buying some gloves soon but scarfs are a no-no for me as i think they are too dangerous at this age, Lea would end up straggling herself i think!
Definately will be buying a hat and the gloves will probably be mittens! xx

My dd is 2 and she has worn slippers for a year now. She had slipper sock/boots before she could walk. But then had a firm soled pair when she could walk. I thought that would be best for her feet/ankles as they gave more support and I didn't want her walking on the inside of her feet.
She's never had gloves or mittens bcoz she won't keep them on, if she does they get soaked from her chewing them making her hands colder lol x
I plan to get her a scarf, just haven't been shopping yet
, I'm not sure what she'll be like but I'll tuck
the ends in under her coat (like my mum for did me). Not very flattering, but safer x x

My dd is 22mths and has a hat and mittens (v cheap from asda). She does pull them off though, so I'm working on that... lol! I'm wary of scarves though so she doesn't have them.

Our house can be freezing first thing in the morning (despite central heating!), so she also has proper pink slippers and dressing gown, which she loves! My older boys all have slipper and dressing gowns too.

I want to get chloe some slippers as our whole floor downstairs is tiled and cold. we both wear slippers and now chloe is walking her feet will also get cold (she takes after daddy in that way!!) but do you go to clarks or can you get cheaper ones unlike with shoes??? no idea!!

Chloe's hat and gloves fit from last year. her gloves have velcro on them so she can't take them off!! worked a treat last year and the hat still fits!! even her coat fits!!!

wouldn't put her in a scarf tho, partly cos of choking but also cos i think she would be too hot and uncomfy.

I'm in constant battle with my DS to keep a hat, even a hood, on his head!! I will get there in the end....i hope!
I will be getting him some gloves & a scarf, tomorrow in fact as we're going to a firework display on Sat & don't want him getting too cold. I think he will prefer gloves to mittens as at least he can still move his fingers around a bit easier!
I got Dylan some very soft slippers (boot-type) from Boots. He generally keeps them on!

My mum brought my dd a pink/brown set from next. She just has the gloves and hat. She too doesnt keep her hat on, but will in a pushchair. My mum also brought hr a coat too which is lovely and warm. She does have gloves althought they are big on her so I doubt I will ever see thm on. Whens shes out in the pushchair her hands stay under the foot muff thing.

SLippers - I was thinking about geting her some to. Wasnt sure if I should get clarks and ones from elsewhere like next.

We are renting and have storage heaters on economy 7 - oh how we just hate them! Saying that, my lo stays warm as I generally put her in skirs in winter so she can stay warm in tights. I just put extra layrs on top.

jemmajem, poor you. Is your oh away during the wk and home at w/es? I do hope its not to long before you can move up their and see him every night. x

Shea is 2 and has been wearing slippers since he was 1. He started with the slipper socks but now has thomas tank proper slippers and he loves putting them on along with his thomas dressing gown, but sometimes once he's had them on a while he'll huff and puff to get them off cause his feet are hot!!

He's always been good with hats, and keeps them on no problem and i've just bought him two new sets of mittens with thumbs in and he gets quite excited at the thought of having them put on!! I wouldn't buy normal gloves for him yet as it bad enough trying to get his thumb in the right bit let alone another 4 fingers!!!

He hasn't had a scarf yet but am getting him one for this winter

My little girl has some slippers but takes them off when she has had enough. Plus she has very wide feet and can't get to fir great so just has socks on or her tights in the house. She loves hats so will wear them happily. Also mittns we have. I also buy ribbon and sow them on to each one to put through her coat saves losing them all.
