Subject : When do bumps drop?

Just wondering when our bumps are expected to drop and what this signifies? I'm 34+3 and feel like it has dropped ever so slightly. I don't get the rib pains and I'm not as short of breath as I have experienced.

Is it linked to babies head being engaged? When will the midwife start looking for this or do they tell you when it is. I had an appointment on Tuesday and there was no mention of it.

Also posted in due in December - thanks xx

g/c - I never noticed my bump dropping - although apparantly it did - but yes it is to do with baby's positioning! I got told how far she was / wasn't engaged from about 28 weeks! Have they not mentioned at all? If not, I would ask next time as they should be checking the positioning by now!

bumps can drop at anytime,at 25wks i had really bad BH i thought i was going in to early labour as i was having twins,if you read in the books what i was having sounded like early labour but i rang the hospital and in the end they stopped, anyway a week later my bumped dropped a lot and i was having a scan at the hospital and a check up so i asked the mw and she said it can happen at anytime and not to worry, cos i was out of my mind LOL!

Hi hon
Have you checked your white notes? My mw never really tells me anything but where they list everything they have checked. It should be something like BP, Urine etc. You want it to say CEPH (which means head down) then you shoudl see numbers over 5. Only this week I have gone from just Ceph to Ceph 4/5!!!
Hope that helps

Thanks for all your replies.

I have read my notes and can see that I've gone from oblique to cephalic (head down) but there is no mention of any numbers to indicate it's engaged. Based on that, I guess it hasn't yet. Will definitely ask at my next appointment xx

I'm due tomorrow and mine has not dropped but I am apparently engaged, so Im either having a very long baby or it just depends on your anatomy etc. I think most babies drop in the last month but varies massively from person to person.
