Subject : nappy rash help

Hi all

I wondered if any of you could give me some advice to help my little boy.

He is 6 months old, and over the 2 days has developed nappy rash. He is weaning but the fruit and veg puree's have caused him to be having more frequent soft pooy nappies, not so runny to be concerned about.

but anyway due to the overuse of his bum, its started to get sore, and when he poo's or when i change his nappy he is screaming the house down due to the discomfort.

any ideas on how i can help him.

I'm using sudacream, cleaning him but with water and cotton wool rather than wipes, and trying to leave his nappy off when possible

any ideas greatly appreciated

You could try metanium cream or bepanthen as both are far better than sudocream for shifting nasty nappy rash

use chamomile tea, make a cup, leave it to cool and use this to clean his bum instead of water it's very soothing, lasts a couple of days when you make it, if it's really bad we use metanium which clears it up really quickly

Could he be teething? Maybe try the teething powders just incase that's it? Or if it spots/blisters (rather than just red patches) there could be a touch of thrush in there - maybe get your HV to check it out!? If it is thrush, they will give you some anti-fungal cream and it will start to get better within hours!

Sudocreme can make nappy rash worse - so use it very sparingly! Metanium is much better.
