Subject : IVF Craziness has Begun...

Hiya Ladies Smile Smile Smile,
Just thought I'd update you in case anyone's interested!! I started down-regging on Monday as AF arrived unfortunately. I'm on the short protocol so it will all happen pretty quickly now, which is good for someone as impatient as I am!

I went for my baseline scan today and I had 12 follicles already, which they were v pleased with. As my AMH level was also good, they are a bit worried that I may overstimulate (OHSS) so they will be moonitoring that closely and I have to drink +++++. I start stimming injections tomorrow and then back for a scan early next week to see how the follies are doing.

Feeling very excited and hopeful now....

Am going to start using my Zita West CD properly and have been taking protein shakes (which are actually quite nice IMO) and eating brazil nuts and pineapple juice. May try to get to yoga but still not convinced about acupuncture....any thoughts from any other sceptics??

So that's my news.... xxx

I was wondering when it was all going to kick off for you TBD.This is so exciting, I hope you are working on keeping those nerves at bay and those stress levels down!

Good on you with the old brazil nuts, pineapple juice etc. It can't hurt if it keeps you positive and feeling like you are helping things along. I'm a big acupuncture-sceptic I'm afraid so probably not the best person to advise on that. I know a lot of people swear by it, though, so it would be good to hear of positive experiences. For me, personally, I would rather save the money and spend the time relaxing at home with a hot chocolate and a good book! Just my opinion mind.

I will be following your progress (at the risk of sounding too stalker-like!) and wish you lots of luck over the next week x

TBD that is brilliant news :) 12 follicles... go girlie :)
I am taking note on what to eat etc and adding it to my list!
I must admit I am an acupuncture fan, one of the reasons being because when on the month I had acupuncture really weekly I had fantastic follicles and when I didn't really have any...
I have everything crossed for you.
How are you feeling on the drugs? xxx

Hi TBD,

How are you getting on with the injections? Any bruising?

Glad you like the shakes just checking you are taking the ones with whey protein in? My hubby loves them, has one every day so at least it's not being wasted!

As for acupuncture I'm not convinced but had it as other ladies had sworn by it and had success with it. As it was our first cycle and we were paying privately I wanted to do everything I could to maximise our chances of success.

Good luck and yes keep drinking loads of water. My follicle count was only 9 and got 15 follicles on 300 of menopor. Quite a hefty dose!!

That's fabulous news honey. You must have so many different thoughts and emotions rushing through you at the moment, make sure that you take lots of time out for yourself and try to do some relaxation stuff.

Is there a list somewhere of things we should be eating/drinking/doing during IUI/IVF?

x

Hi TBD, have been thinking of you. Am really glad all is well so far. Hope you've got lots of elasticated waists as I found the bloating really uncomfy.

Still keeping everything crossed for you xx

Hey ladies....wowie, thank you so much for your very kind and supportive messgaes...it really means a lot. I started stimming injections tonight (gonal F) and it was really painless, just a teeny tiny needle which I barely felt really.

Angelfish - yes am with you on the hot choc and a good book...much more my style too.

Mrs A - hmmm not got any elasticated waistbands whatsoever...may need to invest!

LH - do ask if you have any specific questions...

MrsH - yes can't believe how quickly it's all happening now! Will be you soon!

WWAF - I have started a list on IVF forum....there are a few things on there...

Mrs P - not sure if it is whey protein or not....what's the difference???

BubbaM- the protein is supposed to help improve the quality of eggs apparently. You can get protein shakes from Holland and Barrets - although see what MrsP replies about the best ones as I'm not sure!

Right better get to bed to spend some time with Zita now!!! xxx

Hi TBD, have been following your story and wondered when you would get started!
things have gone pretty quick for you.
great news that things are going well so far with the lil foli's! will follow with interest as to the ivf procedure, need as much knowledge and understanding as poss!
cant offer any advice on the acupuncture etc think it depends on wither you can fully relax at home or not. may be a massage or something away from home just to help you de-stress!
hope things all go well! wishing you luck and hope its not just your 1st cycle but your only!
xxxxx

Morning :)

Supposedly "whey" makes the difference!

Just looked at the tub I got from Holland and Barret (half price) and it's Body Fortress 908g and says "Natural Whey Protein" on it. I'm pretty certain they do a strawberry version.

I only took it whilst stimming (lasted 8 days though) cut out tea and all booze and also switched to full fat milk.

Good luck, so exciting does it feel like you're doing something?

Hey ladies, thanks again for all your well wishes!

Lolsie - great minds think alike....I was just thinking of booking a spa treatment today!! Something IVF firendly though....not sure if a massage would be ok??

MrsP - thanks hon....I will get that one as I have one more (pre-prepared) shake left. Yes, it feels good to finally have A CHANCE at least.
