Subject : went to drs today
saw a locum on "open surgery" as everyone on holiday and couldn't get an appointment for 3 weeks!
i went in and told her i was pregnant and she said "is that good news? ah yes i see you've been trying for some time so i guess it probably is" she filled in a form, didn't need to see my hpt and didn't do another, took my BP, told me my EDD and then said "ok, best wishes to you, the MW will call you in a month....good luck.....alot of pregnancies don't make 12 weeks you know....bye"!

That's horrible. I suppose it'a all routine for them but you almost feel like they should be more excited for you and a bit more tactful.
I just have to call the midwife to make an appointment between 8 and 10 weeks and the doctor doesn't see you at all.

yeah i mean she wasn't miserable, just terribly forthright if that's the right word? you know just very very professional and it is all routine for them i know. i just wish i'd have seen my usual Dr - she would have been over the moon! ha ha. she did say actually i wouldn't need to see the GP again unless the MW felt it necessary. I can't wait to meet the MW now!!

Hmmm that wasn't too nice.
I saw my gp today.
She was really please for me, wished me congratulations.
I didn't have to do test, she just asked me when my last af was and any other symptoms I had. Didn't get my bp done either which surprised me, thought it was something that had to be closely checked during pregnancy.
She told me I was about 4 and a half weeks. Its 5 weeks since my last af so does that mean I'm 5 weeks today?
I've also been booked in with midwife 03/12/09 and she's called Maureen.
Off to hospital tomorrow. Don't think it will be as nice there, thats when it will get scary.

Hi lamby
Sorry the doc wasn't too nice...a month is a long time to wait for the midwife isn't it. I have to ring on Thurs to find out when my first MW appointment is - hoping it won't be too long. I didn't have to see my doctor at all and I'm glad as I don't really like him after I went to see him after 9 months ttc and he wasn't interested in the slightest and just told me to lose weight.
Heres hoping our midwifes are all lovely!

Hi Lamby - congrats again. G/c to say what a meanie and don't let her rain on your parade! When I got my BFP I phoned my birthing centre to get an appt with the midwife (you self refer) and she said 'Can you do another test this time next week and if it's still positive give us a call back?'. WTF?! I was distraught! You'd think some people would have a little more tact when dealing with hormonal women! x

I was lucky that my dr was nice, but I'm hoping I get a different mw this time as my last one was a bit dizzy!
