Subject : 2nd babies- when?

Hi-

A little premature as my daughter is only 14 weeks- but just wondering how long first time mums are planning to wait before number 2, if at all? Or how long did second time mums wait? What would you say are the pros and cons of big/ small age gaps

hi we had our first in march by em c section, so need to wait at least a yr to make sure the scar has healed properly, but come march when he turns one we'll be not ttc as such but just letting natture take its course. personally OH only has 18months between him and his bro and they're very close and on the other hand theres 8yrs between me and my brother&sister so i felt liek an only child really, and don't want a huge gap like that for austin. also i figured wld be handy to get all the sleepless nights, potty training teething etc over and done with asap, rather than getting used to sleep again and then it all kicking off again lol.

My little girl was 2 in May and I had my 2nd little girl in July so just over 2 years.

If we decided to have another one I think we will be trying to time it so that Lucy is turning 3 or over before I have another.

Hey

I also had an em c section on the 9th Aug, I did not know I had to wait a year though for the scar to heal though I am pleased I read this now.

We are thinking of maybe trying for another one at the end of next year or the start of the year after.

Hi,
I had my daughter in June 2005 and my son in April this year so almost 4 years. I wanted a longer gap so that she would be able to deal with the new babies arrival and would be able to help out more (which she does!) to feel included. We also could never afford to have two children in childcare as it's so expensive round here. My daughter started school in September and my Maternity Leave ended at the end of October so it was timed with miltary precision ha ha!!

We would love a 2 1/2- 3 year gap, don't think I could deal with any closer! Really want to be able to give lo 100% attention while he is little and I am enjoying him sooo much at this age. Want a bit of time before having a newborn again! I always thought i'd have a very small age gap but I love the way our family is right now x

Haiden is 14 weeks on Thursday, and I hope we will try again at the end of next year. It only took a few weeks to conceive her so fingers crossed it won't take too long! x

I have 9 1/2 years between 1 & 2 and 13 months between 2 & 3 so I have both a big and small age gap! And I LOVE the small age gap!! My first HATED being an only child and still feels that way! and my little 2 are each others best friends and do everything together!! The small age gap means they are into the same things and this makes thing easier for me too! lol
I now have 6month old DS and am TTC as soon as possible!!

I had Jack in June and we are planning to ttc again aroung may/june next year. I would love a small gap so they can grow up together and look out for each other also like michelle07 said they will play with same stuff etc...

I would have liked an even smaller gap but need to go back to work for a bit and also want Jack to have another christmas as an only child as he wont really remember this year.

I was ready to ttc when my 1st was 4 months, but hubby wanted to wait. There is 17.5 months between my 2 now. I am ready ttc for a 3rd but that would make hubbys 5th child and he doesn't want any more :-(.

There is only 18 month between me and my brother and we were never best of friends and 18 months between hubby and his younger bro, and 2 years between his bro and sister. They all got on but were never great friends. So I don't think age gaps determin frindships between siblings.

I like the smaller age gap as some one said on here it's all over and done with in one go and your not bringing up 2 different generations.

I had Abby in April this year, and I would LOVE to start TTC again in Jan/Feb (for an 18 month gap) but I don't think we can afford it just yet - so may end up with a 2 and a half year gap instead. :-(

hey, mine is 5 weeks old today. we're thinking of a 2 year gap ish. I want them reasonably close in age but i also want to enjoy my little girl as much as possible. any closer and i wouldn't be able to enjoy her as much. don't like the idea of having 2 in nappies either!! x

Oh god Gabe is nearly 18 months and the thought of another makes me shiver!! Surprised

He's too much of a little prince now to accept another anyway, and it would have to be an immaculate conception as I'm single Wink

(you dont have to wait a year after a section),i had an emsc and you can try asap if you dont mind the increased risk of a section and wait 6months(not 12months) if you want a better chance at successful vbac.
I had my dd in july 08 and my son is due in feb 10(he will prob a jan baby though) and oh would like number 3 within the year, lol.xxx
