Subject : Minus 9 to one

Hello ladies!

I am in the process of reading Jool Oliver's book 'minus 9 to 1' and really enjoying it. I was just wondering if anyone else had read it and what your thoughts were?

Me!!! I've read it a few times. My friend gave it to me when I told her I was pregnant with ds and I read it again when pg with dd and again when I first felt broody this time around! I enjoyed it too- very much so.

I do find her...dare I say it? slightly annoying though. She just seems so- perfect! Lol! You know, perfect wife, perfect mother, perfect figure. I'm sure she's very nice in real life- that's just the way the book comes across I think- although I get the sense she tried really really hard to not make it that way.

On the whole though, it's a good read!!

It's meant to be ''warts and all'' but it is kind of a Jools Oliver version of ''warts and all'' so not really very many warts!! I could write one with way more warts than that!!! Teehee!

I reckon it will make you more broody though!!!

Charlie - I understand what you mean about her coming across a bit perfect but I suppose she's got to protect her image? What I like about it is that she does make it sound just hard enough without being scary and I'm more than happy to be mislead :-)

Yes MrsMcD, it is a watered down 'warts and all' - just enough detail to help you feel like you're really reading her story but not enough to look in a magazine, see a picture of her and think 'I know what YOU'VE experienced!' LOL

I also read Jenny McCarthy's book and wouldn't recommend it like this one. Where Jools' might be a little bit peachy perfect, Jenny's is just vulgar - I would say that's definitely warts and all!!

xx

there is a new book out called the modern girls guide to pregnancy. Has anyone seen it or read it? I was thinking of buying it. I have the Kaz Cooke guide to pregnancy and birth, Dr.Miriams Stoppards pregnancy and birth book, and the 2 yummy mummy handbooks.

I am not obsessed at all ;)
