Subject : Cold nights
Hi
I was just wondering what you mummies put your babies to bed in at night? My LO is 6months and goes to bed in a vest, sleepsuit then a sleeping bag, but she is waking up around 1-2am cold. Her room is normally between 17-18 degrees. If I bring her into my bed she's find asleep but as soon as I put her back in her cot, she wakes again. I'm wondering if she finds it cold as she was a summer baby and her room was always quite warm in the summer. I don't really want to leave the heating on all night as the rest of the house will be too warm.
Thanks in advance x

My ds is nearly 5wks. He sleeps in a vest and babygro. He has a blanket doubled over but normally kicks it off as soon as you put him down. The room is around 17 - 19 degrees. He also has built in scratch mits in his babygro that I put over his hands. When I get him out of his babygro in the morning his feet and legs always feel quite cold - but he won't keep his blanket on and he's still a bit small for his grobag. And he won't be swaddled !

hi my ds is 7months and at the mo sleeps in a 2.5 tog sleepbag, a vest and a long sleeved tshirt, his room is usually about 18°.and this is fine for him at the mo. once it drops down to 15-16° i'll be putting him in a full sleepsuit instead of just the top.
heres a thing from 'grobag' if u scroll down to the tird sort of grid it tells u what tog and what clothes for which temp
http://www.gro.co.uk/grobags.aspx
also, our radiators can all be turned on/off, up/down individually, can u not do this with urs? then u cld turn it on low in ur lo's room but turn all the others off?
smithy's wife -- for a room 17-18°u içf ur using blankets then u shld be using 1 flat sheet( u can tuck this round the sides under the mattress tokeep in place and then the same with either 2 cellular blankets or one doubled over cellular. thats what we did with ds when he was too icle for a grobag, and how the mw's did it in the hospital xx

Could you put her in a thicker babygrow? Abby has a couple of fleecy ones for when it is very cold, she looks like a teddy bear, so cute.
Just make sure she's not too hot - it's better that she is too cold rather than too hot, if you're not sure.

Sorry to gc but does anyone's lo's get cold hands during the night? When Riley gets up in the morning his hands are freezing, I have used mitts a couple times but I think he gets annoyed with them so makes him harder to settle.
I've been thinking about making his room warmer as we think its really cold in there but apparently its 18-20 degrees. x

My ds has babygros that have built in mits which we use (Matalan/Next/Mothercare do them) - although is hands/feet/legs still feel cold in the morning. it doesn't seem to affect his sleeping tho and I'd rather he was cold than him over heating ...

I think my baby must be a hot baby!! Our house is so cold i worried about this before he came along!
But have found i only need to put him to sleep at minute in a babygro and a sleeping bag- and he is quite happy and when he wakes in middle of night i can feel he nice and warm (it me that cold)!! The sleeping bag is also only a 1 tog, obviously when gets colder i wil put in thicker tog bag and a vest...
We also have bought a thermastctic heater which only goes to a ceertain temp and turns itself off when gets to temp then on again, found useful.
Also have read that their hands get cold and it not a problem as Luen (my baby) dont like his hands covered!!
xx

My lo goes in a sleepsuit and a sleeping bag, her room is usually 17-18 degrees, when it starts to get colder i'll put her in a vest too. She never seems to wake from the cold and she moves around so much in bed it would be impossible to put any kind of sheet over her !!! I do worry about her hands but as she sucks her thumb I think putting mitts on her might p*ss her off ! LOL
