Subject : TTC food/health diary - ladies welcome :)
Right,
I am determined to do this for me, my OH, my family and my future bean!!!
I have had a dreadful day today foodwise so i thought i would tell all the ladies what i have eaten in the day and you can all feel free to shame me if i have been naughty - i need it!!! I don't weigh myself because i have been bang on 15st13 since i was 15 (even when i was a size 12 up until now - size 18) so i will just let people know my sizes!!!
I will measure my bum, boobs and waist tomorrow and put that on here also!!!
Any ladies who would like to join are more than welcome but PLEASE ladies if i have been naughty i need to be told - i will be honest and i need you to be too!!!
Sunday 1st November - CD5 AF just finishing (i hope)
Breakfast - Bacon Roll, Hash Brown and a white coffee with 2 sugars from McDonalds
Lunch - Pot Noodle
Tea - Chicken fillet wrapped in bacon with cheese, mushrooms and roast potatoes.
Snacks - Wispa Gold, Bag of Monster Munch, Bag of Baked Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps, 2 cans of Pepsi Max, 2 glasses of water with a little juice (i sometimes add it just for flavour).
Exercise - tiling and coving the bathroom with OH and walking around B&Q (DIY chick or what!!)
I will be back tomorrow with my measurements and tomorrows food diary!!!
I hope some ladies would like to join or be my TELLER OFFER (????? not a word i know)
Tink xx

Hi hun! I'm not going to tell you off because like me I feel you need support rather than made to feel small! Today I am starting to eat healthily! I've decided to weigh myself weekly! Todays weight is a disgusting 17st12! So here's to encouraging each other! Xxx

Will gladly join in this thread. Gonna post my food diary from todat later on(once I know)
And Tink. Don't ask us to tell you off! We should just support each other here.
Don't have scales either because I bought some cheap ones the other week and they showed 22stone!!! Although I am sure that I weigh less than 18st(what is also nor bril but better) Had a go at the custmer service person in Tesco, poor her, wasn't her fault after all...

the only thing i will say hun is that you need to drink more water and eat more fruit and veg!!! it's hard to hit 5 a day and i hate eating fruit in winter so i buy innocent smoothies as they are pure fruit and one glass = 2 portions!!! tesco's have them on offer loads so you could stock up cus if you don't open them they last a while!!! xx

Just wanted to say you've made a great start by posting such intimate information on this forum, well done. It's not going to be an easy journey but it will be worth it.
My only advice is to aim to get 5 fruit/veg a day, drink 2 litres of water and do a little exercise. Remember you'll feel more benefit from little steps rather than being too drastic.
Sending best wishes your way xx

I got weighed at work last tuesday and was 15.4. I haven't snacked in an evening since and feel a bit better for it(prawn cocktail crisps are my BIG downfall). I am unfortunately going to McD's for lunch after swimming with the kids but I will try to have regular not extra large portions! Will have a banana before swimming so I'm not ravenous by the time we get our lunch. I will try and summon up the energy to do my exercise vid before bed.
You CAN do this Tink. Big hug.

Hi Tinks - you are very brave to do this!
I'd suggest getting a calorie counting book too - or checking on line for how much cals are in the food you are eating - then it's easier to see if you are overeating or not.
I won't tell you off - but might "suggest" some alternatives? Hope this helps.
Your breakfast isn't too bad - but I think you need to eat more at the start of the day. Then less snacks through out the day.
Bacon is protein so not bad - but make sure you take off as much of the rind/fat as you can. You can get salt and sugar free Ketchup.
Hash Brown - not great as it has alot of fat in it but it's Sunday!
How about these?: Porridge with honey, two slices of brown toast with an egg (boiled, scrambled, poached), fruit with yoghurt and some muesli on it.
Then plan a snack at around 11am - muesli bar or 2 ryvita with something on them - looking for around 150 cals.
Lunch - Pot Noodle - Erm - not great in terms of nutrients - you don't want to stop eating - but you need to start eating "better". Look at it this way - would you feed your baby a potnoodle? As when you are pregnant (and you WILL be honey) - this is what you'll be doing.
Tea - Chicken fillet wrapped in bacon with cheese, mushrooms and roast potatoes.
Need to be careful with portion sizes here as bacon, cheese & roasties will have alot of cals.
Snacks - Wispa Gold, Bag of Monster Munch, Bag of Baked Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps, 2 cans of Pepsi Max, 2 glasses of water with a little juice (i sometimes add it just for flavour).
Not too bad - but I think if you had more for breakfast and lunch, you wouldn't need so many.
Again - hope this helps - please tell me if I'm too preachy

Ooh - had another thought - Portion Size
I keep having to remind myself that I don't need to eat as much as the Supermarkets would want me. Basically I am now trying to keep my portions to the size of a childs meal in a pub (I even order childs portions where I can!)
Then if I am still starving after I've finished - I can always eat more. But guess what! So far I have not felt hungry at the end. I am one of the "clean your plate" generation so I automatically try to eat everything on the plate and find it hard to leave food. So if there is less food to begin with - it's a big help.
This means my OH learning to give me half of his portion!
And I forgot to add my food diary:
Sunday
Breakfast - Bacon Sandwich (2 slices of bread, 3 rashers, ketchup)
Lunch - Chicken veg and potatoes, Sticky toffee pudding & cream (I know bad - I was out for lunch and it was Gooorrrggeeous!!)
Supper - tea and toast (we ate lunch at 3pm)
Snacks - about 5 satsumas, 2 chocolates, far too many cups of tea and coffee.
My downfall is coffee :(

Thaks for all the comments ladies.
Becky_Lou/MJ1986 & Shuck - I always thought my wieght mattered (they do your BMI through your weight so obviously it does) but my doc was shocked to find out that i weighed 15st when i was 15 (this is when i found out about my thyroid problem) and that my weight has only changed by 1-2 pounds in 6-7 years - so my doc said they can calculate my BMI for me but because my weight hasn't changed in 6-7 years he is stumped and told me to check whether i had gained/lost weight by my clothes size or by measuring myself!!! Odd i know but that is my body - i think it is a family trait as my mum, dad and brother all weigh 15st and my dad is bug and butch, so is my brother (he loves the gym) and my mum is smaller than me but not fat!!! So i leave my weight out of things now which is why i said i would give my measurements :)
Rocky Kiz and Lawso - I do (believe it or not) usually eat better than this but because i was having a busy day decorating my house and i was out at half 8 yesterday morning getting things for my house i just ate snacky food!! So i decided to start my "diary" from the day when i ate really crap!!
I usually drink as much water as i can (it gives me a sore throat if i drink a lot???) and i eat apples, berries, grapes and melon quite a lot as i actually prefer them to sweets. My problem is when it comes to tea time i love meat and potatoes or pasta!!!
Hjanea - Thank you so much for the support, if you need any help you can always speak to me - good luck with the exercise vid :)
Chocolateteabag - Thanks for the comments, i do need someone to point out my mistakes even though, with what i ate yesterday, i can tell straight away that EVERYTHING i had yesterday was just wrong. Keep up the comments :)
I do eat, fish, veg, salad, seafood, meat, potatoes, pasta, bread, fruit etc. My dietician told me to ALWAYS eat carbs with every meal to make sure i get the feeling of fullness that it gives you, apparently they aren't bad for you if you eat the right amount.
I always make sure (i go by a pic my dietician gave me) that i have half of my plate filled with salad/veg, i have a portion of meat the size of my palm or a bit smaller and i either have a handful of pasta (literally) or 2-3 small potatoes or if i have salad i will have a little bread roll with it.
I think if i open myself up to you ladies then i will think before i eat something!!! It has worked already because i passed up a choccy biscuit this morning because i thought i would have to tell you ladies if i ate one :)
Hopefully this will work for me and i can have a healthy body for when i get my bean!!!
xx

I also have a problem with portion size which is something i need to deal with - your idea of a childs portion sounds good CTB - i think i will give that a go. I don't drink much tea/coffee (one cup a day IF that). Your food diary doesn't sound too bad for yesterday - sticky toffee pudding YUM YUM!!! xx

Yay - I have my own abbreviation "CTB"
Working from home today - and sitting in the kitchen where the temptation to drink tea/coffee every 5 mins is very strong! But writing this has made me go for large glass of OJ watered down.
I'm also looking on freecycle and ebay for an exercise bike (so much for the working)

Lol i am so pleased to give you your very own abbreviation CTB (i get all confused if i actually type your name lol).
I am really wanting a Wii and a Wii Fit. I bought one in 2007 and it was at the point where there wasn't much out for the Wii and i ended up selling it and i got a Nintendo DS and my OH got a Xbox 360 but now they have the Wii Fit etc i really want it. Not going to buy it yet as i think OH may be getting me it for Xmas (i am not meant to know but he is not very good at hiding things).
I am also going to get the Paul McKenna book/CD called "i can make you thin" hopefully he will help me with my food issues!!!
Well done on reaching for the OJ and not the coffee.....go you!!!! x

Hi,
I've been very slooowly losing weight by watching what I eat and gradually stepping up my exercise. Crisps were my downfall, but have been buying in either Walkers Bakes or Snack-a-Jacks instead, which I don't like as much, so don't tend to eat as much.
I can give you yesterday and today's diary):
Sunday:
2 white toast and a boiled egg
1 banana butty (2 white bread & 1 banana)
Cowboy hotpot (without the potato 'pot') with a Jacket spud and cheese
Some Ben & Jerry's Pish Food - which is frozen yoghurt, not ice-cream so only 5% fat!!
Today (back to the weekly grindstone):
All Bran with a banana, cup of tea and a glass of orange
homemade potato & leek soup with LF yoghurt, some grapes/strawberries & raspberries and a musli muffin (naughty but nice)
A banana and satsuma and possibly an apple later on
For tea we're having boiled potatos, veg and some quorn thing.
It's funny, but since I've been eating better and having less processed food, when I do have it - it's not half and good as I remember it was. I do eat the odd cake and take-out, but I don't believe you should deny yourself, otherwise you just start to resent the healthy eating.
Homemade soups should be great for everyone at this time of year!!
Good luck everyone
xxx

Oooh i love this thread...
I weigh 13st 6 which perhaps isn't too bad considering I'm about 5'6 and am a size 16 but I'm not happy with the way I look and feel like I should get healthier to prepare my body for pregnancy.
I have lost a stone this year just through exercising and eating smaller portions so am going to try that again from today
My food diary for yesterday is...
Pack of sweets from Tesco first thing that a friend at work gave me on Friday
Ham sandwich (weight watchers bread )
Chicken dinner which wouldn't be so bad if I hadnt have been lazy and bought Tesco's finest mash which after eating I realised had about 500kcal and 90% of GDA saturated fat :o
Vanilla cheesecake
Half a pizza, frozen from Tesco
More cheesecake...
Cheesecake really is my weak point lol! Yesterday wasn't great really and I feel quite ashamed posting it but honesty is the best policy..
Today has been pretty crap too...
Half a bowl of cheerios
3slices of weightwatchers bread with ham
walkers cheese and onion crisps
muller light yoghurt
small pack of animal biscuits (couldnt resist lol)
half a portion of chips
for tea we're having chicken breast in tomato sauce with veg and new potatos. I'm glad to say there is no more cheesecake in the house!!!
I have a new found sense of motivation now ladies so thank you, I am going to get OH to fetch the x trainer out the loft now and will do half hour while I watch Eastenders:lol:
Good Luck to everyone else xx

Lol i could do with some sort of exercise machine in my sitting room - i would honestly exercise my a**e off if i could have something to exercise with while watching my soaps. I haven't measured myself yet but:
Monday 2nd November - CD6 (first day to POAS woo hoo)
2 slices of best of both bread with philadelphia light
cup of tea 1 sugar ss milk
apple
2 digestives
chicken salad sandwich on brown bread
quavers
1 can of pepsi max
8" cheese pizza (frozen)
(if i am hungry later i will have an apple and a banana)
I bought some porridge today so going to try with that! Took the dog for a walk for 20-30 mins after work with the OH.

Monday 2nd november
Breakfast: bowl of fruit and fibre with 250ml 1%fat milk, glass of water with lemon juice
Lunch: a banana, an apple, two carrots
Tea: broccoli and cauliflower cheese
snacks: half a hand full of smarties, 5mini biscuits and about to eat two satsumas
also sipped 1.5litres of water between breakfast and now
exercise: 5miles walking
I gonna criticise myself: Had too much cheese in my tea and should not eat the sweet stuff at night.
Want to hear any criticism about my eating.
I love the thread.
Perhaps everybody could include how much they exercise because influences how much food is OK.

Loving posting about exercise Shuck - The x trainer is set up in the bedroom now as the living room is too small for it. I will do 30mins tonight and that will be my days exercise I'll break myself in gently I don't really get any exercise at work, apart from walking to the canteen lol x
