Subject : How many oz for a night out?

Well Girls I'm off out for a party tonight & having a drink - I'm going out at 9ish & home at 2ish (if not before!) How many oz will I have to leave my mum of ebm? My baby is 6 - nearly 7 weeks she cluster feeds in the evening!

I've expressed 20oz over the last few days - I was thinking 4 bottles of 5oz should be enough!? for the evening and night - till morning? or do I need to get pumping & make up another one?

This is so confusing because I have no idea what she takes as I can't see! lol I just let her get on with it and can see she is putting on weight (must take her to get weighed again- bad mummy! lol) but I can see she is filling up her clothes so not been worried!

Anyways - lol Girls what do you think?

ok my hv advised that you take their lb weight and half it and offer that no of oz - so if they are 10lbs3oz you would offer 5oz - I used to put an extra oz in just in case BUT you could get your mum to offer a bit less each time and if she takes it all add another oz but if not you are not wasting any!

I started giving expressed milk at 7 weeks and my HV advised 6oz per feed - he only ever took 4oz at that age though. If she only has 4 breastfeeds normally in that time that should be ok. If she wakes a bit earleir than usual in the morning you should be ok to feed her yourself. I presume you'll feed her just before you go too?

MaxiMum's advice is good too

Enjoy your evening! x

Thanks Girls - had a fab evening I just left the whole 20 oz - way to much in hind site but rather she have too much than not enough, just got rid of what was left over! I'm fit to burst! I have expressed off some so hopefully any with alcohol should be gone.

I wonder how my surply will be affected by having a night off?

I'm gonna start saving up some milk from tommorrow for when I'm lucky enough to have another night out! Save me from trying to get it all in one week! Cause it's hard work lol! Thanks for your help girls! xx

just one more thing for you to have to think about!!!! your body produces sleep hormones in your milk in the evening and activity enducing hormones during the day. it has reciently been advised that you express milk for the correct time of day!!! although i only learnt this at the end of bfing my 2nd daughter and never had any probs!! just thought i'd mention it!! just label the bottles with time and date of expressing!! i know it's yet another thing to think about when planning a night out!!! sorry!!!
