right I have officially had enough now. Isaac had his eye clinic appointment today about his squint and the opthalmologist has said it is a very large squint which he is not able to control so he will need surgery eventually but they can't do it yet until his sight is stable, he has to go back in 3 months for another check up and he may need glasses to help stabilise his sight before the op. Fair enough I kind of knew that already but she even commented on his behaviour ( he was very quiet ) and said he wasnt making eye contact and he seemed to avoid it as much as possible, she said he seemed locked in his own little world and asked whether he had been checked out for things like autism, I know he does get a bit in his own little world at times but I didnt think today he was having a particularly bad day, perhaps I am just used to him being how he is now. I am so peed off with always having something else to worry about with him, first it was his delay in motor skiils, then it was suggested sensory processing dysfunction and maybe dyspraxia (or dcd) now autism, when are they going to finally sort out what is wrong and give him the help and support he needs Mad arghhhh sorry ladies I just needed to get it off my chest before I scream.

goodness hunnie, what alot of stress for you.

Cant really help but could you not ask for a second opinion? maybe then they will get the message and help you rather than pushing you from "diagnosis to diagnosis"
Surley there must be experts in their field that will honestly give you an explanation ?

Im sorry they are messing you about and taking ages to sort your little man out. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

He is back seeing the paediatrician in 5 weeks by that time the eye clinic and the physio should have sent their reports to him, he also has his 2 1/2 year check next week (was supposed to be last week but had to cancel as I was ill ) so hopefully the hv will send her report to, then he should have a bigger picture and as the other health professionals have noticed it then hopefully they will have enough information to give a diagnosis or at least have some sort of idea what the problem is, I guess its just a waiting game, which I am not very good at x

hmmmn im a bit of an autistic spectrum disorder expert (i care for peri my autistic sister ) who is now 12, it took 10 years to get the diagnosis, there are so many features of autism n not every child has them all so don't panic but once diagnosis is confirmed there is a lot of support out there. i know how frustrated you must be hun as you cant move forward until they give you the strategies to help him move forward. im not sure where you are based but from everything you describe it sounds like he needs to be seen by a specialist team, our local one is the newcomen centre at guys hospital and i cant recommmend them enough hunny! hope you get some answers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

There is a latest DNA test they are doing on my son that breaksa down all the dna and looks for EVERYTHING. What I will do is I will find out what the name of it is and let you know as it sounds like this is what you need. It has only just come out in Australia and so you will have to ask if they do it in the UK but if there is anything what so ever to be found it will find it. My son is nearly 5 and we are only just getting answers so you are not alone. We wont have the results of the genetic test until after his 5th birthday as it takes 3 months to do but I am glad our wait is nearly at an end i know what its like. I also know what it is like being used to the way they are and not really seeing it as different anymore.

Thanks for your replies, the paed has got bloods stored from Isaac for chromosome/genetic testing so I think I will ask for those to be done now, I think I'm also going to ask for all the health professionals who have seen Isaac , the hv, the paed, the physio, gp and opthalmologist if they will all meet as each of them seem to be suggesting different things, surely it would be easier if everyone involved in his care was at one appointment with me and Isaac then we might get a full picture and everyones opinions and it will stop me keep getting different answers from different people, roll on 1 Dec when he sees the paed and I can get this all off my chest.

Hi Hayley, Not been on for a few days as just gone back to work so late seeing your post. Poor you and Isaac having yet ANOTHER thing suggested about him.
I hope that you are feeling much better now and are free of the swine flu. Did Isaac get it too?
I hope that this all gets sorted out for you soon.
Smile
