Have to admit I've put Ashleigh on the stage 3 Cow and Gate as It's supposed to support the weaning stage, especially as she'll only eat the fruity jars of food--lil fusspot just like her eldest sister was and still is! Hell Emily is 2 and she still won't eat bread no matter what I do to it lol

Stage 3 milk is almost exactly the same as first milk (it's a marketing thing - they can't advertise milk for 0-6 month olds) but my HV said it might be worth trying it, because it tastes a bit different - and Abby may prefer the taste and drink more! xxx

I am putting Ella on it tomorrow (she is 6mths today) as although it is almost identical to stage 1, it does have extra vitamins and irons as they lose their iron stores at 6 months, and until she is eating a larger variety of stuff I am happier knowing she is getting some extra! I shall just use cows milk at 1 year though - not the growing up milk!

I dont think it does have extra iron in it (although I may be wrong) I think when they say "more iron" they are comparing to cows milk - not stage one milk. Appart from the taste - there is hardly any difference at all (and certainly no more than would be in a boiled egg or a bit of chicken).

I think I will put Abby on stage 3 soon though - hopefully she'll drink more. xxx

Exactly! Stage 3 says ''enriched with iron'', it has 1mg in! I haven't got stage 1 to compare! It is definitely a nightmare they can't agree on anything!

Sorry to go off on a tangent - but I think it is terrible that you can't get points on first milk - how much more pressure can they put on new mums!

My friend cried for an hour, because she felt guilty about giving top-ups as it was, without some snotty sales assistant telling her about the points thing. I don't think she was arsed about the points - it was just a bit of a knife to the heart in the middle of boots.

What they don't realise is that a woman is not going to make the dession about how to feed her bayby based on points! By making her feel bad for FF is just going to cause PND - and I know which I think is better for babies!

Sorry to rant - it just makes me so mad!

Really/! All my coupons only say formula up to 6mths! I shall be getting mine in tesco then lol :)

Nikki - I so agree with you! It is terrible the pressure we are put under! I felt awful having to mix feed at 4 weeks and then ff only at 11 weeks, but if I hadn't my little girl would have been starving!
