Subject : When is the best time to express?
I've found that ds settles much better in the evening if I give him a bottle of expressed milk before bed. My question is,when is the best time to express? I'm worried that if I feed from one side and then express from the other, I won't have any milk in either side for next time ds needs to feed ...

I find that expressing one breast after feeding from the other works quite well and even if I cant pump anymore Holly can always get more afterwards. But for me, the best time to express (even though its a pain in the bum) is in the middle of the night. Holly goes longer between feeds and I was regularly waking up in a puddle (lol) I find I can normally pump 2 5 oz bottles at night if I get up twice (thats 2 x 5 oz, not 25 oz ) I had to start this as I went back to work 3 hours a day at 7 weeks and Holly was drinking 3 bottles in that time. I was pumping 4 a day so hubby could give her one last thing at night too, which gave me a head start on the next days bottles.
Hope that helps

your brest milk has sleep hormones in in the evening, so if you want to feed the milk at night express in the evening/night! i found baby could always get ilk even if i couldn't express any! also if you feed from one side then express from the other, you will usually have produced enough by time baby wants fedd again. hope this helps!
