Hi ladies! Anyone know where you get these from? And while I'm at it - I also need some green L plates for my car! xx

Well, originally they had a great purpose, to tell fire crews that there was a baby in the car - but nowaddays nobody takes them out when the baby isn't in the car, so they are less than useless.

I'm certainly not using one!

theres a few places mentioned to get them from.
the point in them is, if you have an accident and are displaying the sign, and the baby is flung from the car in its seat the emergency services will look for the child. if you dont have a sign they wont know there was ever a child in the car with you xx

I think the chance of a baby being flung out of a car in their seat is VERY minimal!!!!

I dont see the point in them, if the baby and car seat has been flung out of the car what makes you think a baby on board sign will still be there?? Sorry if I have offended I just really do not see the point in them.

Think the idea is also to deter other drivers from acting dangerously eg overtaking etc but let's face it, if someone is the type to act a prat on the road a baby sign won't stop them. Hubby insists we have one but I'm bit embarrassed about it tbh lol

I always laugh when I see them and think well if I plan to crash I'll avoid your car then!!

If people want them I don't have a problem with them I would just not bother myself but that was not the point of the OP's post. I have seen them cheap in supermarkets.

No offence tyaken, each to their own i say. The only reason I will have one is I will always remember seeing a horrid video from a mum that it happened too. 2 children in identical car seats, one seat belt failed the other didnt. I know its remotly slim to have the seat frown from the car but IF it did happen I would want someone looking for my child. (i dont mean to cause offence to anyone either, and im sure this debate has been up many a times, lol)

I used to think they were a joke and swore to NEVER EVER have one myself but when I found out that they were actually useful in an emergency / accident situation I changed my mind about them. Other drivers or passengers can have their opinion on me having one in our car (just like i used to with other parents) but I really dont care now if it were to help my child should the unfortunate ever happen (touch wood it doesnt). I could never forgive myself if I was in an accident and woke up in the hospital to find out the emergency services werent even aware that I had a child with me because I didnt make it obvious.
In this respect, a silly little sign seems a small price to pay but of course each to their own opinion!

As someone else said if they are to alert emergency services they are only any use if you do remove them when the child is not on board. I always have the car seat in the car and not always my lo and I would never remember to take it in and out!!! Do any of you that do have them take them out when lo not int he car????

Hello all, dont want to upset anybody but an accident like that happened last year in my home town.A baby of 9 months was flung out of a crashing car in his car seat and survived, both parents were killed instantly.Very sad,but unthinkable does happen.xx

I can see both sides. The problem being if you have one and are in an accident, the sign was in the window, but the baby wasn't in the car...then the emergency services waste time in looking for a child that isn't with you.

On the other hand if the child was, then obviously very handy.

I went to the Baby show, and there was a company selling reflective signs, thought that was a good idea. :-)
