Hi nat congratulations on your pregnancy. You must be really stressed out.

My son was born at 33 weeks and is now a perfect 2 year old. He was 4lb 4oz at birth and discharged at 4lb 9oz after 3 weeks in SCBU.

Your baby is 29 weeks now which is great, some premies in here were born earlier and have thrived.

Sending baby superglue
xx

Hi Nat!

My LO was born at 33+2 after PROM. She was a healthy 4lb and as I had all the steroid jabs to help mature her lungs she needed no help breathing at all. Both sets of Agpar scores were a 10, very reassuring.
She spent 3 and a half weeks in neo-natal, a few days under ultraviolet light due to slight jaundice, but made good progress from an incubator to cot in about a week. She was tube feed on EBM to start with and did manage some small BFs, and came home at 4lb 14oz, gaining weight and feeding semi-on-demand by bottle.
We were told that to go home she would need to be around 2,5kg, gaining weight and feeding well. She was discharged at less than 2.5kg due to the other factors being favourable!

WIshing you all the best with your baby and hoping she stays put until 34 weeks for you x

my dd was born at 32weeks after PROM. i had the steroids but gave birth less than 2 hours after having them so they didnt really have time to do much good. she came out crying and her apgar scores were 9 and then 10. she was a very chunck 4lb 11oz and she needed no help, she had some jaundice she spent 24 hours under the light. she was tube fed solely for 2.5 days then wouldnt stop screaming so they gave her a bottle as it was in their words 'the only way to shut her up'

she lost a fair bit of weight and went down to about 4lb 1 but was 4lb 14oz when she came home.

as long as she was feeding well and gaining weight they were happy to discharge her. she spent 19 days in SCBU, 36hours were in incubator in intensive care then she moved to high dependency for 12 in incubator then into a cot. the last 6 days were spent in the nursery

Hi there - I had PROM at 33+6 weeks and my lo arrived at bang on 34 weeks - so I didn't have the constant leaking etc that you have but I can tell you about my 34 weeker! He was born weighing 5lb6oz which all the peads told me was WHOPPING for 34 weeks at 17.58. He was perfect and needed no help so spent the first night with me but unfortunately he would NOT feed and his blood sugars were droping too much so then enxt morning (12 hours after birth) he had a nasal gastro tube fitted to feed down and I started expressing - HOWEVER even with the tube fitted everything that went down came STRAIGHT back up. So that morning he was taken to SCBU to be monitored - no milk stayed down for the first 3 days and the paeds were seriously worried that he had some kind of mal formed gut! he had lost 2lbs in weight in those 2 days and was really struggling as they could not get any iv drips in him either! Surprised eventually they turned him onto his tummy to nurse and try and keep food down that way with a heart monitor on too and finally give half a ml over an hour while on his tummy he started to keep food down! It was a last shot before they were gonna give more serious investigations. He slowly started to thrive - he was in SCBU for 7 days and we were in hospital 10 days in total.

Good luck for it all! Happy

Hi my baby was born from PROM at 34+5wks and weighed 4lb7. They were worried about him measuring small before this but he was fine and healthy, just needed to stay in hospital for the week and he needed to be tube feed for the first week and a couple days until he had enough energy to suck. But he is such a greedy monster now you would never believe he was so small!

After the birth it turned out I had strep B so he needed antibiotics for the first 48hrs but he was fine. x

Hiya hun not sure difference between PROM and placental abruption??? but my son was born naturally at 32weeks as my placenta aburpted / ripped to shreds, and he had to get out or loss out i guess, so he did, he was 3lb 9oz at birth. I bfed (expressing) for first few weeks (tube fed) as couldnt really have much contact as he was so small, but after 8weeks he came home, could latch on to bfed etc, and trust 18months later to look at him he's taller than most kids his age, and definitly has made up for lost time! he'd eat day in and out given half the chance! lol

hi, Im so surprised they let you out of the hospital! I had prom around 34 weeks and was told i wouldnt be let out of the hospital til i gave birth, it was a horrible week not sure what was going to happen, couldnt sleep with all the other women in labour :( they decided to induce at 35 weeks as a scan showed my baby was already a good 6lb ish, i was induced but failed and had to have emergency section, my son was born 35 weeks exactly and was 7lb!! He struggled to latch on so was tube fed ebm and we had to stay in hospital a week after he was born til i could cupfeed him, he never was able to breastfeed unfortunately but then when he was a couple of months old we found out he was lactose intolerant. He is now 2 weeks shy of his 1st bday and is absolutely thriving, he is bigger than most other 1 year olds we meet so he has def had no probs from being early. I hope your lo holds on as long as possible, good luck!
