Subject : milk and solids....
Has anyone started dropping feeds yet?
E is on 3 meals a day and turned 7months today
Currently we feed at 4am and then on and off til we get up at 7am, he then has brekkie (with 3oz formula hes bfed) around 10am he has another feed, then lunch at 12.30ish and a feed. Teas at 4.30 and a bf, then bf at 6ish and bed..have just started a dreamfeed at 10pm to try and sort out the night wakings, he has 6oz then.
Im wary of dropping any feeds as i dont know how much milk he has, lunch time he tends to refuse a bf, but if i offer a bottle he downs 5oz..the past couple days hes finally accepted a beaker though so maybe hel start dropping feeds then, i havent had him weighed since June so on a mission on wednesday to do that
What are the other babies doing

Peter is 7.5 months and also on three meals a day (has been from the start as we are doing baby led weaning). He is still having at least one feed overnight (to my exhaustion) any time between 1 and 4. His morning feed is between 6:30 and 7:30. Breakfast is at 8:30. He has milk at 11/11:30 then lunch at 1 and another milk feed at 3/3:30 (although it can be as late as 4, depending on naps). Dinner is at 6 and he has his final milk feed (a 7-8 oz bottle of EBM) at 7ish with bedtime at 7:30.
He dropped his midday feed about a month ago and I think he is getting ready drop the afternoon feed, but not quite yet. I'm trying to introduce a solid alternative, but he doesn't snack. I'm sure that will change when he is a bit older!

hi austin will be 7months on wednesday and is on 3 meals a day, before weaning at 23weeks he was on 5milk feeds a day but once he was on 2 meals he just didn't want milk every 3hours like had been, so dropped down 1 feed, and now he's on 3 meals he doesn't want his mid morning milk feed anymore so he's now down to 3, it was one of the 2 breastfeeds i did but at this one he wld just go on and off sucking twice then off for a few minutes having a look around and back on for one suck so i decided to see last wednesday how he was without that one, so i skipped it and ther was no change in him at all, didn't miss it one iota, so i did the same on thursday and again he didn't notice, was not whinging for food and didn't want his lunch any earlier so wev'e dropped that one now, feel a bit sad as now on 1 breastfeed butthen he is 7months and only planned to mix feed til 6months . so now his day is 8am wake and breastfeed, 9/9.30breakfast, 12 noon lunch, bottle feed at 3.30pm, dinenr at 5/5.30, then bedtime bottle at 7, in bed at 7.30pm, i don't know if he's getting enough milk, i hope he is and plan to ask hv when we see him on wednesday, i have been giving him plenty of dairy (soya alternatives) tho like yoghurts, cheese spread etc, and he always has one of his cereals for brekkie so has about 3oz of his milk on that too xx

Hi ladies
Daisy-Mae has never been much of a milk drinker (to my dismay for many months before weaning!). I started weaning her at 27 weeks and is now on 3 solid meals a day - no purees because of her reflux. She dropped her own 11am bottle herself, though I didn't want her to. So now, she has a 7am, 3pm, 7pm and a dreamfeed still at 11pm. I make up 8oz bottles because of the Gaviscon, but she rarely drains a bottle. I'd say each one of these is about 5oz, sometimes less. Keeping the dreamfeed at the moment is our only choice to get a good amount of milk into her, although we'd like to get rid of it now!
C xx

Nina is usually having four breastfeeds during the day (including bedtime) and three solid meals. I don't know what's going on during the nights at the moment though! She had a horrible bout of teething with lots coming through at once, followed by a nasty cough which she still has. She has been out of sorts and so been up anything from 1 to 3 times over the last week or so, and insists on a feed each time. These are the ones I'm wanting to drop at the moment!

I think im going to worry less about milk intake, hes happy and content so must be doing soemthing right!! Was funny as yesterday he dropped his morning and afternoon feeds...will see what today brings!
I feel your pain missymoo, weve never had the joy of sleeping through, and lately hes got worse...he is waking for feeds though not in pain or anything.

Not sure what you think re Evans night feeds, but I do suspect Nina's night feeds are more for the comfort aspect than hunger (particularly if it's a pre 4am feed). If it's not teething, it's a cough or cold and I don't feel like I can deny her then!

Erin has a bf anytime between 5am & 7.30 depends wat time she wakes up! She has baby porridge around 8.30 made up with 3oz ff milk and the remaining 3oz about half hour later which sends her to sleep... 5oz ff about 11.00 and snooze, lunch at 1sh, 5 oz ff 3ish then snooze, tea about 5.30 and last bottle of 6oz at 7.30ish.
She was fully bf before weaning and fed every 3hrs so she has prob dropped 1 or 2 feeds!
She does eat loads now and if she has a readymade 7mnth jar then she will eat about 3/4 of it if at lunch and all if for tea!

Riley is on 3 meals and has 3 milk feeds a day.
He wakes around 7ish and then has 4-7oz milk, then breakfast about half an hour later. Lunch around 12ish and 4-7oz milk about 2.30pm. Tea about 5ish then 5-8oz milk around 6pm. He then sleeps through from 7pm (only just started a couple wks ago!)
I've found fitting his meals in a real nightmare because if he's too tired then he's a real when eating his solids, so I have to try and give him them within about 30mins of waking from a nap!
I've been worrying about his milk intake lately too but I'm trying not to as he's healthy enough.
I don't know if its just conincidence but I started to give him some water just before going to bed and since then he's been sleeping through, I daren't stop it now though in case he wakes in the night! x

Hi
I'm having the same questions - Evie having three meals 4 brfeeds and 1 bottle - She doesn't take much when I feed her so would like to swap for all bottles now but every day I plan to do it and when it comes to the feed time I can't be hassled to make a bottle and end up breast feeding again!
Bottle feeders - how much does you make up for your lo now?

SMJ44-Riley has 7oz in the morning (he never drinks all of this but I add the rest to his porridge), 7oz around 2ish and 8oz before bed. Some days he will drink them all, some days he will only have a few oz. x

xkelx, that is really handy to know. I'm breastfeeding, but when we tried giving our lo a bottle midafternoon, she drank the entire 6ozs and cried because it was empty! So we tried her with 8 the next time, and she drank 4!!!!!!!
Perhaps we will aim at 7oz each time, and then see how we do.
Incidently, we are currently bfeding first thing, midafternoon and bedtime.

i finished breastfeeding 2 weeks ago, we were down to one breastfeed (the morning one as cldn't be arsed to make bottle first thing lol) and after two weeks of being the only breastfeed he weaned himself off, he was on/off, on/off lke he wasnt' sure what to do lol, i hjad plenty of milk so just figured he didn't want it anymore. we switched to a bottle (so he has 3 bottles a day now) and i make the water up just befor ei go to bed so in the morning i just hacve to add the powder. he has 6oz on waking, 6 oz mid afternoon (about 3ish) and then 8oz at bedtime.
i've tried offering him more at other times of the day, cos he does have a huge gap from waking til afternoon but he won't take it, and then wont take solids either. xx
