Subject : Questions about c-section (also in pregnancy)
Am having baby by section on weds but have just got a few questions in my head which i would like to ask and see if other ladies can help me? Will ask my sil in a bit when see her but i think more than 1 opinion may help.
Q1: how long after having section did it take before you back with baby again?
Q2: Was you able to do things for baby such as feed/change nappies etc?
Q3: How long until you are able to physically move about?
Q4: Lastly i know it takes a bit longer to recover after section how long before you felt like driving and doing everyday tasks?
Thanks in advance for sharing experiences and answering my questions....... xxx

Hi, I had a section 14months ago, once baby was out they showed her to me and took her off to put nappy on an give her vit k, by the time that was done I was stitched up and able to hold her so its only a matter of minutes before u are with ur baby, I was able to feed her straight away, she was bottlefed, but needed help doing nappies for the first night as I was still numb and couldn't get up, I had her on tues
Afternoon and was home for 6pm on thurs, I was able to walk the morning after having her, and by saturday I was putting washing out and going for walks out, hope this helps, and hope all goes well, good luck xx

hi, i had an emergancy section in may with my first baby.
When Ciara was born they lifted her beside me and hubby so we could identify the sex, then they took her to one side to be weighed, measured, checked over etc (hubby went and stood beside her but i could see from where i was laying, then they brought her straight over, hubby held her cos i had 'the shakes' and was frightened i wouldnt beable to hold her securly, then when i was all stitched up and in the recovery area they tooked her into the bed with me and helped me to latch her on and feed her.
As for your second question, i could do everything straight away..mainly from the bed. When my hisband left in the evenings we made sure that everything i needed, nappies, spare clothes etc were within arms reach so that i didnt have to struggle getting things.
3, the hospital encouraged me to move about pretty soon after, they helped me take a shower etc, but take everything at your own pace.
i dodnt drive until id had my 6week check up(my insurnce wouldnt cover me and to be honest i didnt fancy it. i went for walks and things after about a week but it all depends on how you heal...take everything at your own pace when your ready and dont let anyone rush you
good luck

I actually held my babies whilst they were stiching me up... they show you him/her straight away and do the normal checks as they would a vaginal birth.... not much difference in no tiime you and baby will be together, and like bailey_b says you do things from the bed, and depending on what time of the day you have your section... you would be walking around the nxt day slowly and a bit uncomfortabley! They encourage you to get up and walk around a little... I stayed in hospital for 2 nights after my my previous 2 sections, and didnt drive either untill 6 wks- thats what they reccomended, but I think it may be around 4 wks now?
Lots of luck

Hi I held baby Harry as soon as they had checked him over so about 5 mins after he came out for about 10 mins then hubby held him for the rest of the time, they were stiching up. They only took him to be weighed and given injection. I then breastfed in recovery and Harry latched on straight away.
That night the nurses changed him as I could'nt get to nappys etc. The next day I had a shower and walked around. I found the 2nd day (shower day) was awful I felt in pain, upset and wondered if I'd ever feel ok again BUT the day after i felt so much better and have continued to feel better everyday. I have taken it easy and not lifted etc as I was worried about stiches (I'm now 5 weeks and feel completly normal). I did drive after 3 weeks as i felt able to and insurence company said it was up to me !!!
Good luck and remember to take big knickers so they don't rub yr scar
