23? young?

i'm 22, got married in august and also an ex YAYW addict! I'm 6+2 (so still early days) and we havent told anyone yet. I'll be 23 when bubba is born... I think everyone will be happy for us, but when we were gettin married the "don't you think your too young comments" would REALLY p**s me off! if anyone makes a comment like that about bubba i'll prob tell them where to go, As long as you are happy and able to support a baby I don't see anything wrong with it....

xx

Hhi designer bump, the young comments annoy me as most of our parents (i think anyway) were our age when they got married and had kids, infact i am OLD compared to alot of parents i know!!

Grr, i'll do it when i am good and ready thank you very much Razz

We're at the planning and trying stage... and squirreling money away... but its rubbish as we still have student overdrafts that need sorting. I hate a few hundred quid being the only thing that stops us :(

Soon though, yay!

I can't believe someone tutted at your bump!!!!! that's soooo rude....

The thing that annoys me is that 20 years ago everyone was getting married and having babies in their 20's and now if you do it and your in your 20's your "throwing your life away, and your child will obviously grow up on a council estate and be a hodded yob...."

When actually its the total opposite and we are all happily loved up, know right from wrong and have the cash to support our babies... peoples ignorance is very annoying... sometimes when people see i'm married and ask how old I am I say im 26 so i don't get the comments

23 is a good age to have children.
I hate it when people are too quick to judge.

Lets not forget ladies that our child bearing years are between 16-25, you can't argue with nature.

I was nearly 23 when I had my son and now I'm 12+2 weeks with my second at the age of 26.

At the end of the day its not down to age its down to maturity, and I believe that there are more people believed to be too young by society out there that are physically more capable of caring and correctly raising children, than there are older adults.

Ladies do you what is right for you, enjoy the decisions you make and have a long and happily married family life :-)

I think it doesn't help that I don't really look my age and since I've been pregnant I have constanly had a face full of spots, so I do look a lot younger than I am at the mo! Another thing I've noticed is that people look from my bump to my wedding finger! And I get more disapproving looks cos there's no ring on there (my fingers have swollen up so it doesnt fit!!) But we're happy and that's all that matters!

Designerbump, have you told your parents yet? xx

Hi again Rosemary! :)
I will be 25 in January and we are only starting to think about ttc next summer so I will be 26....so I am worried I will actually be getting old! Surprised :L
My mum was 22 when she had me, which I always thought was a nice age! I'm sure you heard you were quite a young bride because I know I did and I was 23 ....but then everyone asks...so when are you having a baby? Everyone always has an opinion but I think you are right-it's when you feel it's right for you and your husband, that's all that matters! :)

Hi everyone, i was 19 when me and my boyfriend had our first baby. Sean now 1 and is going to be 2 in febuary, and now we are planning on having another baby. When i was pregnant with sean i had a lot of dirty looks, people used to came up to me and ask if the dad was still around or if sean was a mistake. Me and my bf marcus have been together for 4 years now we planned sean like we are planning this pregnancy, its wat we wanted, at the end of the day as long as you think your ready to be a mum then thats up to you. People shouldnt judge you if the dont know you. All that matter is havin ur family and bf their with you. All th best girls Hold your heads up high:\)

Hi girls,

its so weird how people work!
Me and hubby got married last august at 22 (me) and 24 and we had quite a few 'too young' comments but having been together 7 years people grudgingly accepted it...since we tied the knot we have had endless questions as to when we are going to have a baby! no-one has told us to wait...it's like we should have done things the other way around??

I think I'm textbook ready...own house, tick! stable jobs, tick! married, tick! and healthy, tick!
what more can a little bubba need and you never know what's around the corner!! xx

im 23 and when my little one is born, ill be 24. lots of people at work (im a primary school teacher) look down there nose at me for being pregnant. these people are very work orientated and are mid 30's and ive come to realise theyre jelous! i have been with my husband for 7 years (married for 2) we own our house, so why shouldnt i get pregnant? we both work hard and we can support our baby! my mum had my sister at 23 and me at 25, so i've always wanted my babies early so i can ejoy them and play with them! my best friend is 31 and she wishes she had children earlier and now she's really broody and aware that the 'biological clock' is ticking! i'm over the moon about having my first baby, im 13+6, and i cant wait unitl D day is here!!

hi toms girl! its laura from yayw. don't want to put my yayw username on here coz its too obvious who i am to my friends and family but i'm hoping you'll know who i am from my name!
i'm so excited to see you're pregnant! i remeber all the problems you were having so that is amazing news! when are you due? we're just in our first (official) month of ttc and i'm supposed to be testing mon/tues but might do one tomorrow as i don't think i can wait that long so wish me luck!

rosemary - hi again! sorry for hijacking your thread there. i'm also 23 and as i think i've mentioned before i've recently had a bit of a career crisis and did a lot of re-evaluating and decided not to worry about my career coz it was causing me far too much stress and focus on having a family instead and its working out so well so far! you have to do whats best for you and what will make you happy in the end.

Hi ladies!

Everyone will always have their opinions, too young, too old, too poor.....

At the end of the day I think it's down to each of us as individuals and when is right for each of us

I'm 22, 16weeks pregnant and will be 23 when bubs arrives, my oh is 27. We're in the middle of buying our first house, engagement was next on the list then ttc next year.. order changed a bit, but we're happy so don't care what anyone else has to say.

Family and friends are all happy for us, although my Dad thinks I'm a bit young still, but he's still so excited, think it was the shock more than anything.

Had a couple comments from people at work about being young, but then one of the girls said perfect age!

So long as it's what you both want and you're both ready for it then follow your heart

i dont think 23 is too young at all, everyone has there own preferance as long as you and OH are happy at when you start trying to concive it nothing to do wi anyone else, i got PG with my first at 20 and then our happy accident was daughter number 2 at age 21 hubby is 1 year behind me, i am not 23 and 28+5 weeks PG wi daughter number 3 which we tried very hard for, we got married in 2007 have a morage and settled jobs and are a very happy family. and neither of us feel to young at all if anything we feel ready for the life we have. wish you all the health and happiness for the future.
