Subject : 5 year old still wetting the bed!!
I am really confused as to why she keeps doing it, but my little girl keeps wetting the bed (at least once a week!)
I limit how much she has to drink from around 5pm, make sure she goes to the loo several times before bed, but she still does it.
I've tried reward charts, and all things like that, but dont seem to be getting anywhere.
She now sleeps with an absorbent bed mat under her sheet to protect the mattress, so I'm not worried about the inconvenience of it, but I am worried about her.
Has anybody got any ideas about what I should do?
Many thanks

weird that you wrote this as I was about to. Joseph is 5 (was in april) and still wets about once a week too.
he is a happy little boy and I too limit his water etc.. he wees before bed and if I can wake him when I go but sometimes I just cant wake him. I have put it down to him been a really really deep sleeper. I am sure he will grow out of it. I dont mention it to him (unless he says he has) and i tell him its nothing to worry about etc.. I have waterproof covers on the bed and I put 2 on so that if he wets and it wakes him in the night I can whip one off and he can go back to sleep.
I am waiting till he is 6 and if still a problem then I will take him for a consultation.
good luck, and I look forward to replies from anyone who can help..

So glad I am not the only one to be going through this!!!!! Very strange that you were about to write too!!! They sound so similar!
Becky was 5 in August, and I was beginning to wonder if I should take her for a consultation. Like you though I think I may wait a while.
Fingers crossed someone has some ideas for us!

this is quite a slow forum so might be best to post in toddler/baby if you get no replies???
One thing I have noticed is that if Joseph needs to poo he wets that night. When he wakes he needs a poo. I sometimes wonder if his bowel is pushing on his bladder?? Also, when he has a later than normal night. I keep a note of when it happens just to see if a pattern emerges. Might be worth doing as it would be helpful to the Dr when you go.

Yeah, good idea, I'll post there tomorrow if no replies.
What you have just said has just made me realise that Becky usually poos first thing in the morning too, so maybe her bowel is does press on her bladder. I think I'll start keeping a diary too, at least like you say its something that might be helpful to the Dr. Thankyou! xx

Hi Debbie, just a thought that the school health nursing service maybe able to give you advice. Grace started school in september and she is still wet the odd night. I put it on the health questionnaire that goes to the nursing team but put that it was occasional and not a concern and recived a letter within days with a leaflet and a person to contact if I wanted to chat or more advice. So it might be worth a try. I think that they are now the people to contact like before it was your health visitor with things like this.
Not sure if that made sense-I've not been up long!

Thanks Helen, nice to hear from you.
It sursprising how many people have said its a common thing to happen.. I'm hoping that she'll grow out of it! If I get one of those forms I'll mention it just to see what they say. I'm trying so hard to not make a big thing out if it with Becky as she really seems to not have any problems and is just not aware she's doing it! Think I'll just have to make sure I take her to the loo every night when I go to bed. (it just feels mean waking a sleeping child doesnt it!!)
Anyway, hope you are keeping well, I keep still lurking around ttc looking out for you! One of these days you'll be shouting that bfp from the rooftops hunny!
Take care
