Subject : Wetting through
HI
My LO seems to be quite a heavy wetter - any recommendations for a nappy to hold his wee?
We went out today and I went through 3 changes of clothes then had to buy a baby gro!
- I'm trying to find an all in 1 or 2 nappy that works best for us x
Thanks

What are you using at the minute? You tend to get better containment from a seperate nappy and wrap, AI1's tend to be a bit rubbish if I'm honest. Also, where do they leak from? Are they sodden when they come off, and are they leaking round the legs, or round the top?

..... Im trying lots - I had the bambinex fitted with wraps ( though I was using tots bots wraps with them - which were fine he started to get a bit big for them so got some AIO that my OH prefers - just trying randoms ones at the moment buying them as they come up on cloth nappy tree.
Occasionally they are sodden I have a set I got from China via ebay they just are around the inside legs. Not had it at the top.
I have two mudshrimps they just seem to wet through very very very very quickly!

If they are leaking round the inside of the legs without the inserts being sodden then it's probably either a fit issue and they are a bit big for him, so he's basically weeing out the side of them, or you are getting wicking for some reason. Are the ones from China pocket nappies? and do they have a microfibre insert? If they do then it could just be that because your lo is sitting down for long periods the wee is getting squashed out of the microfibre. We had this problem and I just started putting a hemp insert (try www.easypeasienappies.co.uk for good value ones) under the microfibre and that fixed it for us. Pocket nappies are much better for heavy wetters than AI1's as you can adjust the amount of stuffing in the pocket but they still go on like an AI1 so they are easy for OH's!! I don't know the mudshrimps, it may just be that they aren't very absorbant to start with!

You could try closer pop-ins or the bumgenius nappies. Both have adjustable numbers of layers of inserts so you can add in more. I generally use the BG and have both the main insert and then newborn booster - even with my heavy wetter these will last up to 4 or 5 hours.

Hi, I use bamboo inserts as bamboo in more absorbant than microfibre or cotton but Hemp is better than Bamboo! I have one hemp nappy which is very good.
Also, you aren't washing with fabric softener are you? as this can stop fibres from absorbing liquids!
