Subject : can you guys help me out pleae?

hi ya, im a single mother of twins aged 9 months, i have just started training to become a midwife and need to do a project on a health issue. i have decided to do it on premature births.
i want to find out whether premature births occur more in multiple pregnancys than singletons,
i would really appreaciate your help in this. thank you xx

Are you thinking about natural or planned?

Im having my identical boys on Monday. Im having a planned section for a couple of reasons. Firstly, after lots of research places like TAMBA and writing to the MBF, they suggested that section delivery for MCDA twins was the safest with regards to TTTS developing during labour. Secondly, I was going to ask about attempting natural until 28 weeks, when twin 2 decided to do a flip and is now breech. I didnt feel comfortable, and neither did hubby, 'hoping' that twin 2 would turn during labour and the total fear of an emergency section totally put me off this idea.

So, ill be 36 + 3 when I deliver my boys. From research, it seemed that between 36 and 37 weeks was optimum time to deliver id twins. However, had this not all been planned, there is no sign of them arriving yet. My bump hasnt even dropped (although twin 1 is very much head down in the bottom of my pelvis, due to twin 2 being breech, my bump is still quite high!)

Im happy to talk about my pg (its been eventful in more ways than 1!) and birth once its happened.

Good Luck and hope this helps xxx

I had a fairly uneventful 1st pregnancy apart from a bleed at 6 weeks which was implantation bleeding. At 32+6 I woke up with some bleeding, sneezed and lost my plug. Saw GP who sent me to hosp and on the monitor it showed I was contracting, I had no pain at all until a few hours later and was told bubba was coming that night. Got steroid shot and then tightnings stopped. Had a day with nothing happening and another steroid shot but the next day it started again. Started pushing at 6pm ish had to have waters broken, episiotomy and my son was born at 7.10pm. Was told it was one of these things.
Good luck with the course, iv been a registered nurse for 3 years and the hard work was worth it.

hi

have you written to your local twin club? many keep records of how many weeks there members got to.

I delivered id twins at exactly 35 weeks via emergency section, went into natural labour at 34+4 spend 2 days trying to give birth then had rapid onset pre eclampsia hence section. had threatened labour from 30 weeks onwards think my body cldnt grow any more, my boys were 4lb 15 and 6lb 8.

DS3 was born day before his due date

DS4 will be elective section so bit early.

are you going to look at difference between id and non id twins, ive known a few non id twins that have gone to 40weeks plus. also might like to consider TTS and MCMA twins which the recommend being born at 32 weeks. Also maybe consider if they were fertilitly treatment and/or born to older mothers as statistically older mothers are more likely to deliver pre term even with a singleton.

sorry rambling lol
