Subject : Problem with ADVENT bottles?

Hiya!
We've been using our advent bottles for a good few months now and have a problem with leaking milk!
We've been through all sorts of thoughts and little tests to see what the problem might be and have come to the conclusion that they just somtimes leak!
Does anyone else have this problem? or had it and solved it??

Hiya

We have the same problem every so often we found unscrewing the lid and then doing it back up again helped but we eventually moved to Dr browns anyway cuz of wind issues!

If you overtighten the lid on Avent bottles then they leak. No idea why though! x

Yeah, it's just a build up of pressure when the milk's been shaken is all. All we did was unscrew the lid as babycrazy1 mentioned above to release the pressure and then it'd be fine. Equally, we bought the caps to replace the teats for making feeds up in advance and have had no leaks at all with these x

Hi, I have AVENT bottles & I tighten them & then loosen it slightly to stop it leaking - stupid designed bottles as others my friends & I have used don't do this, I guess it's just the venting system they have designed doesn't like it when tightened too much!
The caps are discs that you put in the bottle collar instead of the teat...not sold in all the shops, actually I don't think I've ever seen them in my small town...the ones I have came with my breast pump.

So glad i found this post, i have tried everything except for 'not doing lid too tight' does make much sense but the tighter you do it the more it leaks, just turn it until it stops but dont tighten at all it works a treat! xx

Hiya,

The caps we got from the Mothercare website. Never seen them in store but they've been great for solving the leakage problem. Don't have to unscrew to release pressure or owt. They're slightly concave so have room to expand when you shake the hot formula up. Then it retracts back down as it cools. I think they were about £3.50 so we got them when we were getting something else to save having to pay as much again on postage x
