Subject : Is this leaving it too late?

Hi

I booked on to the NHS antenatel classes the other week. I am due 1st Feb and the classes the lady mentioned are run on wednesday evening in Jan starting on 6th Jan and the last class being 27th Jan so very close to my due date. She did say I was likely to be ok with it being my first as likely to go over but I know this is not a definite and I could have boochi boo on time or even early. Do you think I am leaving the classes too late?

She never mentioned classes in December (but would they be too early?). I have enquired into the NCT ones but there don't have anything suitable for me. I have asked them to contact me if something comes up.

:\?
Thanks
Catherine

Although my boys are due the end of Oct I knew they would be early (as in beginning of Oct)

I booked my NHS classes for the end of August and beginning of Sept as I was worried that the boys could come even earlier and I would have missed them.

I dont think Dec is too early, and im not sure that I would want to rely on 'first baby being late'. Plus, your would be 39+ at the last one...dont know if I would want to go to a class at 39+ weeks.

Its entirely up to you but if I had the choice I think I would do the Dec ones.

I agree, I'd try and get onto a December course. I started my NCT classes a week and a half ago and there's a whole group of mixed EDDs. Admittedly I'm the last but there's another couple of people due just a week or two before me. They'll take me up to 32 weeks then I'm going to 3 NHS classes (same day and time!). I'm glad I'm going earlier as it gives me a bit more time to look into the different things being discussed like pain relief etc.
I'd look for something in December :)

I agree I would book them for Dec, where I live you have to wait until you get the letter from the midwife to be invited to the classes and I am still waiting even though I have mentioned to my midwives many times!!

I missed the antenatal classes completely. Midwife and I thought we had time enough and was planning on going to them around 34 weeks. (they just started than for 4 weeks) Unfortunately my boy decided to come out by than and I was in hospital from 33 weeks till 34 when he was born.

So I would say rather to early than to late. I know my experience is not very likely to happen to others, but I would leave a bit of time after the classes.

I left it a bit late too hon. I'm due just after you - 5th Feb. I am booked onto NCT course that runs all day on 2 Saturdays in January. I'm crossing my fingers that I'm not early. If I am, I'll be on here as my waters break asking for a synopsis of the courses, condensed into a few paragraphs!!
