Subject : Questions about an Elective C-Section
Morning All
I've chosen for an elective c-section and just wondered how it works, do they complete it at 40 weeks or before? My mum said I need to be prepared to have the baby around 38 weeks, is she talking sence?
I'm seeing my consultant again at 34 weeks, which seems along way off seeing as I'm 23 wks tomorrow. If I had the section at 38 weeks it would suit be lovely as my hubby could have a full two weeks off with me! Bit selfish on my part but would be ideal.
If anyone knows how it works I would love to hear from you
xx

I think it depends really, in my area they have taken the new procedure of electives being done at 39wk+ as it is apparently better for baby(according to research) - its the new guidelines that are coming in but it would depend on your hospital.x

I was booked in for the 39th week (breech baby) and was told they do not like to book in earlier than this (Leeds), however in my 38th week I ended up in hospital for the night with very high blood pressure and the next day the consultant came round and scanned to check he was still breech and said they were quiet that day so would do an hour later
Nearly wet myself but I am glad they did in the end as there was no amniotic fluid when he was born so my waters had gone and I didnt even know!
