hi, we have just started my 18 week old daughter on baby rice, she cries everytime we put the spoon in her mouth, and only swalllows when we put her dummy in her mouth, is this normal, advise very much appreciated

my lo is 20wks old and i tried her with rice but she didnt like it so i now give her fruity porridge and seems to take more each day and enjoy it. maybe try this as well as it obv tastes different from milk.

I found baby rice doesn't go down too well - I give organix gluten free banana porridge and she loves it! However if she won't swallow and cries she probably isn't ready!

I would say hold off on weaning for a while, my little boy was the same would take any food without a dummy. We stopped and waited until he was 5 months.now he loves all foods. If you want to get your little one to try different taste beforehand try a tommy toppe safe eater.
