silent reflux

My dd2 had this. It's the same as normal reflux, acid rising etc but without the sickness/ spitting up. She was very unsettled and arched her back a lot. Always cried when laid down, but was ok in bouncey chair. Once I explained to our doctor we were given baby gaviscon which helped straight away. As I said in my other post to you going to the osteopath helps. Plus we started weaning a 4 months. Which helped both intolerance and reflux. I still find she's more comfortable sleeping slightly tilted. But 2 months on weaning is going so well we don't need the gaviscon and the reflux seems to have disappeared x

my lo whos now 19 months had this - it was horrendous mainly because all health visitors and docs kept saying it was just wind/colic... i knew there was more to it and did own research on line and it is exactly what Hayls explains above...

i took to docs armed with my info and it matched exactly and they agreed top give infant gavisgon on presription i just put sachet in milk and he drank it that way! we kept giving for ages as i was sooo worried about stopping think he was about 7 months when finally stopped!

also he has always had cot slightly tilted (yellow pages and next catalgoes are good)

if you want to ask anything else just message back, i know how awful it is for you and little one!

xx

Devon has got silent reflux and i had never heard of it! the hv and dr said it was colic but for days Devon was just distraught, not feeding, real tears the lot and he was just 5 weeks at this point. the dr sent us to the hospital to double check and it was there they said it was silent reflux, now initially when they said reflux i was like well hes not sick but once they explained it all made sense especially with the symptoms.
Although now he is 8 weeks and is on the gaviscon he does seem more settled but im hoping once he starts weaning he will be even better x
