Hi lol there is a 20 yr gap between my little bro and me. He is now 13 whilst I am 33 (same parents too). We both love it, my daughter is 9 so he actually became and uncle when he was three!
I think this is what makes families, there is no 'normal' anymore and hooray I say. In fact when I went to uni and mum and dad fell pregnant they were horrified my 16 yr (at the time) bro asked dad why they dont practise safe sex like they preached to us!!! Dad went red told us to shut up whilst bro and me cried with laughter!!!
I am expecting my third so there will nearly be 10 yrs betwenn daughter and baby, with a 5 yr old boy in the middle (again same dad) .
What I am hoping for is that she is as helpful as she is claiming that she will be, however I'm sure the novelty will wear off for her and her friends will soon enough become her proirity!!
Take care hun and just enjoy,
Em x

Hi there,I am the same as you.I have a son of 11 1/2 and I have just had my second boy<now 4 wks>and even though there is a big gap there is still a bit of jealousy there because we are very close and he has had me to himself for all this time and was so used to us being able to go anywhere and do anything at the drop of a hat especially now it's the school holidays. This year there is no holiday as it would be too complicated so he is having to amuse himself with friends instead and I feel so so guilty for not having time for him.I have explained that it wont always be like this ans he says it's fine but the guilt I feel is terrible.

I'm experiencing all the things people have mentioned in the above posts....eldest almost 10 and a star most of the time but then we have lapses when I am deemed unreasonable as I have stopped sleepovers at our house at the mo and get irritated about little things. Had a c-section so can't drive and being a teacher I always have the whole summer with my girls and we do loads of stuff which as the baby was born on the last week of school term hasn't happened this year. My 5 year old is really jealous and 'hates' me but loves her brother...hv thinks this is for the best but she is verbally nasty and was thumping me whilst feeding the other day...I am looking for suggestions of how to deal with that one too! I think it will all settle down when school starts again and girls back in a routine for bed etc because it has gone awol at the moment. we are also not having a holiday this year and all grumpy about that as we love our family time at the pool and beach in the sunny warm climes....I am remaining positive that we will get through it and everyone will be happy soon.....Good luck to everyone else too!

Hi there is a lady I know who has a 17 year old a 4 year old and a 2 year old and it seems to work perfectly for her as she's a great mum x
also i was about 11 and my brother 9 when my mum had a third child with her new husband and we adore our brother although even now in his twenties he's still spoilt!
families come in all variations these days and your son seems thrilled by the idea so go with it! xxx

I have a 16 year age gap between me and my little sister and we get on great. She became an Auntie to my little boy at 7 and idolises him and he her too lol.
Despite having such a large age gap me and sister are really close (though do still bicker with each other ha ha) and she's always coming to stay at my house or if we go for a day out she's always coming with us too. The only thing that has ever really been a problem was when I'd look after her she found it difficult that I was in charge and the adult though she's 9 now and a lot better.
