Subject : Is anyone saving for a baby before they ttc??

Hi

Just wondered if any of you are saving for baby things as its too early to start buying things, where do I look for stuff, wheres best websites to go on, how will I know what we need.

My mam has offered to go halves on a decent pram and dh mam has offered to buy us a cot so thats 2 things sorted.

Am probably doing my own head in not going to start to ttc till Jan but I just think the next 5 months will fly by and then I want to be prepared and if saving money is what we have to do then I will have to try and do something.

My wedding was 6 weeks over and now I'm on the baby train choo choo he he xx

I'm not managing with the saving very well at the moment but hoping that will change! Is it just me or does something come up every month that takes your extra 100 or 2 away? last month it was tyres for the car!!!

not really saving at the moment as I'm not earning and dh has a power tool addiction (roll). If you want a good list of what you need though the mothercare catalogue has a pull-out checklist of essentials which I found very useful first time round.

At the moment our wedding is taking up every spare penny it would seem, but we are hoping to fall pregant a few months before the wedding so that wont leave much time for savings. but we will just start buying things once the wedding is over as we are already used to economising our money and plus having your 1st baby is a huge expense in terms of all the equipment you need as my mother keeps telling me (think this is her subtle way of trying to put off becomming a grandmother for atleast another year...Hahaha, worse luck!!)

x

Yea me and oh are trying to save - we have a baby fund! Alot of things we will prob start bying as we go along but the main reason to save is so i can have a decent mat. leave!

*Just re-read my post - i can't even spell 'buying' which is a shock cuz i do plenty of it!!*

I can't save, I have a shoe addiction. Right now all our money is going on the wedding.

LC I agree. something ALWAYS crops up unexpectedly that you need to pay for, its endless.

Hi girls something does always crop up we have had such a crap time since getting married 6 weeks ago and now my car has broken down and hubbys van has broken down too so we are both left carless!!

Argh well we wont be able to afford to save much but they do say every penny helps so what we do have spare will go in a separate account for our baby stuff and to cover bills etc when am off on maternity.

I reckon we have a good year and a half to save so we might just do it but it will be hard work again.

The wedding was a massive expense and now its over and I might be getting paid off am just in a massive downer and obsessing over starting a family because thats the next step for us just wish it was sooner rather than later :-( x
