A big thank you to Bedhead. I booked Abby's session with Urchin Rock after seeing your photos back in April and they were posted online yesterday evening. I am so chuffed with them.

thats so cool - I would love to have a photo like this, but I know they have to be confident swimming underwater and there isnt anywhere round here that teaches it... :( Will have to encourage them ourselves Although Ollie hates being under water...

Awhhh, that's a lovely picture! Very jelous that you got pics without nappies, the pool our shoot was at won't allow them. We ordered the patchwork from them in the end and we are so pleased with it.

Mummystephe - I didn't actually attend lessons. I'm a member of a gym and didn't want to pay even more for lessons when I have access to a pool. In the end I followed the Lauren Heston DVD:

I bought it from a charity store for a lot cheaper than this but it's excellent.

Bedhead - I'm sorry they wouldn't let you take the nappies off. I would have been quite upset as the naked photos were all I really wanted. However your photos were lovely - that's what made me want to get them done.

Can i ask a really silly dim question? how come the baby doesnt sink? LOL Surely babys cant swim properly can they? confused!! xx

have a look at www.urchinrock.com hun, they do shoots all over the country so there should be something near you.

Most babies tend to float, both of my two are so floaty that they had problems taking the pics quick enough as they just bob back up to the surface! Having said that, even tiny ones will try and kick under water and push themselves along so they can swim a bit. Millie can actually swim about half a width under water these days.

Most babies are mainly fat (definitely Abby ) so they float naturally. Abby will now help the process by kicking towards the surface. The main problem is that they have huge heads and can't hold their upper bodies above the surface on their own so if you let go the head sinks. Abby loves the underwater bit so much because it's the only time she is free from my grasp and she can swim on her own. As soon as her head comes back to the surface to breathe I must grab her to help her get her nose and mouth above the surface.
