Subject : What week are you starting maternity leave?

Just as it says really ladies.... What week are you starting your maternity leave and also how long are you taking? I arranged to leave at 36 weeks but now i think that's cutting it a bit fine, I'm wondering what others are doing?

i was planning on working up until 38 weeks but got signed off at 24 weeks due to a low lying placenta. this is my first and i am currently 36+2 and now realise i would never have coped working that late. i'm usually out of the house 12 hours a day with a long commute into london though. xx

Leaving at 36 weeks, then have 4 weeks leave then start maternity on my due date (19th Oct). I cannot wait and actually have a countdown on my desk at the moment!!

With regards to how much time off... I have no idea at the moment! It all depends on money (typical!) xxx

Due to my job (A&E nurse) I'm only allowed to work til 28 wks, however i've pushed them and they've said max 32wks, even then I'll have weekly review after 28wks.

I can't wait to leave work but it does seem really early, but have a couple of friends that are pregnant and also it'll be Christmas so plenty to do!

i worked right up to 36 weeks and it almost killed me off as it was when we had all that hot weather i found myself saying i really wished i had stopped working a few weeks earlier but it was too late by then. i just really wanted to make the most of my mat leave so i can have as much time off with the baby as possible. its so nice to be at home now though and i think i do apprecuate my time off more now because i worked for so long for it

I am self employed too and will be starting mat leave around week 37 but will still be available to clients on the phone and by email until Bean arrives as I work from home. I obviously don't have a commute and I can rest whenever I feel like it so hopefully it should be okay to keep working until the last minute!!

Im taking maternity leave at 34 weeks but have 2 weeks annual leave so it will be 32 weeks really.
I travel a lot for work and I have very differant workloads in all the places I work so personally I dont think I could cope with working any longer, plus Im not a huge fan of my job even though it's for a good cause it drives me batty sometimes so Im leaving as early as I can!

Tomorrow! I can't be doing with it anymore. I'm 32 weeks now, but I have 5 weeks annual leave to take 1st, so not eating into my actual maternity leave too much.

I've broken up today, and am 32+5.! Am taking 3 weeks annual leave before mat leave officially starts.

I feel fine (tho tired) so could have carried on working as my office have been able to arrange parking for me to avoid the train commute, but as my job is demanding I wanted to leave sooner rather than later to have less stress!

Im working until 37 weeks, (Im 35 weeks tomorrow) and too be honest I feel fine. I will be glad of the rest when I finish but to be honest Im glad Ive kept going otherwise Id just get bored and impatient rather than enjoying the time.

I dont think think 36 weeks is cutting it fine, if you are healthy. Ive got a really busy job but can easily manage another week.

I'm with ladyk. Starting mat leave at 36 weeks with 4 weeks annual leave so mat leave won't start until due date. If baby comes early I start my mat leave from that day and get paid the annual leave. I think i'll be exhausted working that late but i'm hoping it will keep me sane and i want as much time off with baby.xxx
