Subject : How often?

I am still breastfeeding my son Noah who is 19 weeks. He has always had good appetite and has already doubled his birth weight. He's now 16lb. However, i'm concerned because he rarely goes longer than 2 hours during the day without feeding. He can go 8 hrs at night but not consistently. I've heard that by now babies should eat 3-4 hourly and be able to sleep thru the night. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried to make him wait longer but he just gets distressed. I also tried introducing baby rice last wk but it doesn't seem to made any difference as a hasn't really got the hang of swallowing it yet! lol.Any advice or similar experinces please?

How often?

hiya,
my dd Ruby is 27 weeks (ish and she is still having 5 or 6 bf's a day and is on 3 meals! before weaning she fed every 2 hours as well. it was a bit exhausting but its what she wanted! i started weaning at 19 weeks too but she didnt even seem interested til about 2 weeks ago!
she sometimes sleeps til 7 am but thats rare, normally waking about 5am. last night it was 2;30am and i tried to not feed her but she was frantically sucking my face, my arm, anything so had to give in!
i think they're all different so sure Noah is fine!

If it is any comfort, Peter doesn't sleep through and never has done. He wakes every four hours or so at night and probably will until hie is fully weaned. And it is only recently that he started going 3-4 hours during the day (he is nearly 19 weeks).

Don't worry. Every baby is different. Just get as much rest and nourishment as you can.

That sounds pretty normal to me hun, Bella is 11 weeks and is still feeding roughly 2 hourly from 5am to 11pm, and then she might go for 3 or 4 hours in the night. The night before last she went from 8.30 to 3am which was bliss and i kind of hoped she'd carry that on, but no such luck lol! i've decided to just go with the flow and feed on demand for now, hopefully once she starts weaning she'll go a bit longer between feeds. Only another 3 months to go! xx
