Hope you don't mind me posting for you guys!
I noticed on the where do you live post you stay in the area we are going our holidays in a few weeks time, Stanwix Caravan Park, Siloth. It's a 5 star park with outdoor pool and really caters fro the lo's so really excited, it the sun comes out to play it should be fantastic, if it rains really don't want to be stuck in the caravan/clubhouse for 5 days, that would be torture! We also quite like to get out and about while on holiday during the day, so was after some local knowledge of where is good to visist etc..... can you suggest any nice places please???? like parks, soft play, child friendly eating places, museums.
Many thanks in advance if you can offer any assistance.
Cheers Lynne

Hiya
I noticed it and meant to reply but then forgot Sorry
I dont know silloth much really so dont know the place you're staying at I'm afraid.
I can say the railway at eskdale is good (Ollie enjoyed it) but the rest depends on how far you're willing to travel - there are some nice places to go around hawkshead and ambleside, windermere, also keswick, penrith, and of course down here in ulverston but it'd be quite a drive to get to some of them... its about an hour and a half - 2 hours away from here, so it would be about the same to the aquarium and windermere.... depends on how far you want to travel and how early you set off to get to some of them...
dont know about soft play areas (except the one in barrow) or parks really, but there should be some good ones in carlisle!
Sorry I''m not much use!

Thanks for the reply Stephe, I actually thought you were closer to the area as it's in Cumbria, obviously Cumbria is a lot bigger than I imagined! I also miss read the post and thought you said only half a hour from Carlise not one and a half, D'oh! Was really only looking to drive short distances as Lexi is not the best traveller she gets so bored, a bit like me really.
Maybe Vikkijane will see the post and point me in the right direction.
Cheers for taking the time. Hope your two munchkins are well.
Lynne

no problems, i only wish I could help more
Carlisle is so big it must have something, think reghed is only about half an hour away, and keswick too.... might be something there to do - theres always derwent water you can walk around, and bassenthwaite to visit although its not really kiddie friendly....
My to are good MJ is doing well and Ollie is a nightmare (totally normal apparently )

Hi sorry didnt get back as have just seen this now, the park your staying at is really good, There isnt alot to do in silloth itself apart from the arcade and walks along the front etc but there is a sealife centre down the road at mary port which is only a 20 minute drive down the coast and along the way there is a place called allonby with a nice park and beach and a little shop there does the best ice cream yum lol
There is also a soft play centre in wigton which isnt to far and you have in carlisle another soft play centre called the magic castle and theres bitts park which is a good park for the kids and the castle, tullie house muesuem which is good for kids, carlisle's about 1/2 hr drive from silloth.
Again what stephe said about keswick that is a good 45 minute drive but is a really nice place to walk around and derwent water is lovely and you can take boats out on it or go on the the steam boat the goes round the lake, or just go for a walk around the lake.
Hope this helps a little there should be leaflets in the place your staying as they usually have them, theres plenty to do, if you want to know more just post and i will try to help you.
I hope the sun comes out and you have a fansastic time, if we want a day away we usually go to silloth or allonby, and my sister has a caravan there we were planning on going to in the summer.
vikki xx
