Subject : gynae results! bad news again!!!

well i had my private appointment tonight and its all bad news!
I went in and he was lovely [he would bloody need to be at £120 for 15 minutes!!!!!!this is the second gynae doc ive seen as my other guys is retiring]. and he took my history etc and he done a pelvic scan, my ovarys were plastered in cysts. He confirmed i have polycystic ovarys. He also told me the results of my last blood test and confirmed im not ov and he also told me i have a very high pro-lactin level
He is starting me on Metformin from the end of next week and will decide wither to put me on clomid aswell in the next fortnight when he knows for sure i didnt ov for three months in a row. He also wants a sperm test done for Gary and he done swabs for infections etc [sorry tmi] but said as i had a baby already i should be fine.
Anyway the long and short of it is i am officially buggered but at least they are doing something about it and im looking forward to starting Metformin as it can also help to lose weight!!! [ a nice side effect!]

It's such a shite feeling, isn't it? I had a similar experience last week but, like you say, at least it has been found and something is being done. Xxx

sorry to hear you've got probs, but at least something can and is now being done. Fingers crossed this kicks your ovaries into ovulation and you get a BFP!! (PS metformin can also give you the runs at first! - just to warn you, it's usually used for diabetes and I work with lots of people with it!) xx

Im good thanks diane. Had a scan in the week and everythings fine withmy bubbs :) TG Still no symptoms though !

The metformin was a godsend for regulating my insulin levels and I did loose some weight but sadly had to stop taking it as I have low blood pressure and it was making it even lower x

Hi Diane,

I'm sorry to hear you got bad news and are feeling so down about it all but on a positive note at least now you know where you stand and the doctors are hopeful of rectifying and before long you will be on your way to you BFP.
You will get there soon, I know it! whilst losing a little weight along the way too! Smile

Sharmy xx

hi hon, my best mate was told she would never have children due to severe pcos and also starting early menopause at 23 but she insisted on the metaformin and her son is due in 8 weeks.

Hiya - Im so sorry youve been told you have pcos. I didnt have pcos but I had very high prolactin which I took tablets for to reduce the levels as it stopped me ovulating. 5 months after taking the tablets I got my BFP - so it can be done and hopefully the treatment youre being given should mean its not too long before you get your BFP.

Wishing you every luck getting your BFP

Just wanted to say chick, my OH's cousin had PCOS and was put on clomid, she just had twins! Although it must be hard knowing things aren't going to happen naturally at least now you know why it's not been happening for you and you will get all the help you need now.
Fingers crossed for a speedy BFP!!!

Diane, I'm so sorry I missed this until now. Also sorry to hear you had bad news, but the positive thing is that you're now going to get appropriate treatment, and hopefully this will lead to you getting your BFP very soon. A friend of mine was diagnosed with PCOS and actually got her BFP the cycle after the treatment began. She now has 18 month old twins. I really hope it all goes well for you xx
