Subject : Baby items on sale

Hi ladies

I'm just wondering if any of you have started buying things yet? We've bought a few baby gros and clothes etc but nothing big.

The thing is...there are some things that we know we want that are on sale at the moment. Would you buy them now or leave it till later and risk ending up paying more?

I keep hmmming and ahhhing and can't decide whether to be brave and just buy the things or not!!

We bought our pram at 12 weeks as it was a bargain on ebay.

But at the weekend we bought both cots and mattresses as they were in the mammas & pappas sale so we saved 20% and where then really lucky that the sales lady was also a twin mum and gave us her staff discount!

Have bought a few nappies on sale too thats it, wasn't really planning on buying so early...didn't last time but with twins on the way we're taking advantage of sales when we can!!

Thanks for your replies ladies Smile

Sugarpuff - what a great saving! Happy Which bedding did you go for?

Lilac - I can only imagine how expensive it must be to be expecting twins! That's really lovely of the lady to give you her discount too Smile

HI crashing from Due Feb (ok only due the 1st Feb).

Its a huge temptation to rush out and buy everything i know but just think if you just buy things slowly youve still got 6 months to enjoy looking at baby stuff and buying things. If you buy everything before you are 4 months its a long time to wait. I would spread out the buying, so youve got months of enjoyable shopping!!

I trried to do that when i was pg with my first, i looked at things for ages. Ordered my pram at around 24 weeks and my cot around the same time but then had prob with my pelvis at 29 weeks and couldnt walk so i ended up sitting at home with all the catalogues and picking what i needed then going out one day to babies r us, sitting on a chair ( coz i couldnt walk) and my sister ran round and got everything!!!

Not quite as much fun but not to worry. I tried not to buy many clothes either, just babygrows and 2 outfits coz it was great looking round the shops with a few days old baby in your new pram and picking what you like!!!

Do what you feel is right. If you buy furniture etc you dont have to get it delivered till nearer the time or you could store it in a relatives house

I know what you are saying about waiting to buy things but me and hubby are both working full time and have a 4 year old we dont want to drag round buying baby bits all the time so we are just buying things as and when we see them. hubby is doing the nursery in september so i will be about 24 weeks then. we know what pram we want but just waiting to see what colour our bump is so we can chose the colour, lol
I think it all depends on your situation as to when you buy stuff. I had my chair 3 weeks before finding out I was pregannt as i knew i wanted one and got it for £5!
Im not one to walk away from a bargin and as I didnt have the chance to buy what i wanted with my daughter maybe I am abit OTT with buying stuff this time but hey im enjoying it so why not LOL!
I do agree with the buying of clothes. We had loads of clothes given as presents for DD and she never had chance to wear them all, so we are buying 3 outfits, and then mostly vests and sleepsuits xx

i dug out the blankets that i brought for lost bean, they are all still in wrappers, andonce ive had my 20 week scan ill unwrap and wash them

tk maxx had some really lovely blankets and baby sleeping bags but i really want to know what colour bean is first,

im lucky as hubby works for argos so get discount, but still have the crib from when i had zack (13 years ago) and the pram is in mums loft,

a sterilizer i got in the sale for last time is stored at my friend house, and i brought a breast pump in tesco for 6 quid as the box was dented, thats been stored away too!!

i cant wait to go shopping.....

I've not got much to buy as we brought neutral clothes, moses basket etc....for DS as we did not find out sex and probably won't this time either..... only things I have to buy are bottles, nappies etc...

However, I'd say go for buying things.......its al part of preparing to be a Mummy, enjoying your pregnancy and boding with your baby.

OMG I haven't even looked at maternity clothes yet, let alone baby stuff!
I feel a bit funny about doing it this early on...and don't really have a clue what we need or not, am a complete novice!

Luckily we're going on holiday with our friends and their 6 month old in September so I will be taking notes....also they recommend joining Which? to get reviews on everything so might do that.
