Subject : honest opinons needed...

hi ladies,
some of you may remember my post a few weeks ago on a few names me and my oh have got down to. my favourite being george and his favourite being frank. i am very close to 'considering' giving in to him... only considering...
be totally honest, what are your opinons on the name frank? it was never a name i liked but hearing it so much now i am warming to it. i just worry our little boy will get picked on or people will snigger "they called him what!?!?"
please be honest... i can take it! there is a little boy that will have to carry that name around forever so we have to get it right!! LOL!

i like george, little biased it's my son's middle name. you've asked me to be honest nd i don't like frank at all, reminds me of 3 things, frank gallagher (shameless), talk to frank (advert on tv for drugs) and an old neighbour when i was a kid he was an **** so we called him (not to his face mind) frank the w**k!

It's just not a name i like tbh anyhow, without it reminding me of anything

hope i haven't caused offence?

oooh, have to say didnt really have an opinion either way on the name frank until I read TTC2009's post, what an awful nickname and kids can be so cruel. I think that would definitely put me off.

hey thought i would share my story with u, before we even concieved our lil girl as my partner got 4 boys from previous relationship I said if it was a girl he could name her. Anyway we done the Dr Shettles method and I be buggered we went for a gender scan and it had worked as we are having a girl. Anyway hubby got to name her and before she was concieved he named her Tembi-Star, which to my disguist I didnt like and worse was everyone I told thought I was joking. But the name completely grew on me and now it has grown on everyone else too. The point of the matter is u have to both chose a name u like and regardless of what anyone thinks stick to it.

I love the name Frank too

so glad i didnt cause offence but it's just what reminded me of the name!

I like some of the older names that have been coming back or are back but some i think need to stay behind, i'm sure we can all think of some we dislike that others do like!

good luck with who ever wins the name battle :)

Hey hunny!

It's a tough one as I think people should be able to call their children whatever they want as it's their child after all.

I personally prefer George over Frank, I think as a little one he may get called Frankie anyway and that may stick even if his actual name is Frank.
Frankie is a really cute name though and would suit a baby, child, teenager and adult, as would George. More so than Frank I think. Just my personal opinion though hun, feel free to ignore :-)

Sorry i'm not much help. Looking forward to hearing what you decide.

Frankie however makes me think of that song 'Frankie, do you remember me, Frankie...'

Regards names DS3 name was chosen by dh and i didnt like it but over time it really grew on me and i love his name now and its just perfect for him

michelle, that's 'sort of' what has happened with us. frank started off as frank the fetus and also because oh is a chelsea fan and frank lampard is his hero. he was called frank before we even knew we were having a boy and to me was just a joke name that i never in a million years thought it would be a consideration. now oh thinks it will be odd "changing his name" after 8 months. i keep telling him people call their bumps things like 'bean' and 'flump', 'rice' etc but they don't end up putting 'bean' on the birth certificate!! lol. xx

it is what ever you like as soon as baby is here thats who they are and no one ridicules the name people tend to do that before hand my 2nd daughter is named lacey grace evryone hated it and i mean everyone my friends family, in-laws even hubby but i loved it stuck to my guns now shes just lacey and no-one cares thatss all the people who had a very strong opinion on hating the name when she was inside me! lol!
so go with what ever you and hubby love no one will mock because thats who baby will be either frank or george!!

Ha. Loving all your posts. Must say I agree with TTC2009. 'Talk to Frank' was the first thing I thought of. I love George - Would have liked to name our baby that if its a bot but my friends little boy is George. Frankie is a nice alternative but I do have that song stuck in my head now. :-) At the end of the day though its your choice - We had Oscar and Max as some boys names but everyone said 'Dogs names' which put us off. So we stopped telling people names we liked. x

I like both name choices here and can see your concern about what may happen when he older. I had this conversation with OH other night as we have two name choics but one i love is quite unusual. He was saying do you think he'd get picked on for having different name and i said tbh i think if child going to get bullied they'll get bullied. Kids are cruel and will find something weather it name, spots, glasses, hair/skin colour etc. Both of us have been bullied at school so that why he worries he he. Sorry probably not helping just saying i like both your name choices and don't worry about what ohters think, this is what i'll teach my child!! xx

I agree with lucyloo that if a child wants to bully someone they'll find a way regardless of name but names don't help, I prefer george I think just because it sounds warmer- if that makes sense. Totally understand that calling bump 'frank' all this time has made it a term of affection though, could you compromise and call him Francis? That way you could still shorten to frank and frankie or whatever. I'm sure when you see him the name will just sound right if it's meant too :)

well tbh i like both names because my grandads were called Frank and George lol. Me and my bf are going to try and keep names choices secret as nobody seems to like the ones we do! Me and my bf both like the name Ella marie for a girl however we can't agree on a boys name - i love the name Evan but he hates it!..hopefully he will change his mind tho!..

I think when the baby is born you may decide that he suits 1 name more than the other:)
