Subject : Christmas
Hello ladies!
Except for the OBVIOUS reasons (hehe) has anyone started giving any thought to Christmas?? Christmas is normally a logistical nightmare each year as it is, so we're started planning it all out. Obviously a lot of plans are "Ifs and buts" as my due date is changeable depending on who you talk to, and there's a very real risk baby could come Christmas day! But we already have a rough plan in place - some of it has already been discussed with the ILs, and talking about it to my family this weekend.
Is this just my minor OCD coming through, or have any of the rest of you started doing this too?
I know some of you have started buying pressies (which is impressive!!! And I'm jealous! lol) but I'm looking more at the 'seeing family' and 'where will you be for Christmas Day' type issues.
Thoughts ladies?!

Ive told my family and friends that the baby counts as everyone's xmas pressie as im sure i will have enough to do without getting presents for people!!
My dad and step mum usually come visit on xmas eve or boxing day so this year and just going to go with the flow and not stress about plans and with bubba due on the 12th that's the main thing im going to focus on xx

I have tryed to think about this but have decided on leaving it for a while. Basically we dont live near any family, we already have DS and we normally go out to local restaurant for xmas dinner. LO due 12th and if I go in on time and have natural then I was still in hospital for 4 days after when I had my DS, so I know I may not be well enough to go out and get dressed up with DS and LO to think about.
So I am thinking along the lines of a quiet day in the house playing toys, with something simple to cook!!!!! x

Yes, I've given it some thought but as there's every possibility I'll be hospital, I'm not planning anything. MIL will be cooking and if we are not in hospital, we will go there. We normally have family around on the night but we have said that's not going to happen under any circumstances.
As for presents, I have given a little thought to it and will be buying as normal. I'll just be organised and will try to have everything bought and wrapped by November.
Would love to know what people will be doing about writing cards. I was going to do this in advance but what do you put for baby, it will probably be bump when they're written and received and baby sometime nearer to Christmas. Is it ok to write from lawso, OH and baby before it's even born?
So many things to think about, would love to know your thoughts xx

yep we've spoken about it. I'm hoping to get all my son's presents by beginning of Nov. With regards to xmas and where we are, we are planninhto stay at home, baby due 7th so believe the 21st would be latest he/she would arrive. Will probably only if baby arrives on due date or give or take a few days later go to my parents furing the xmas break if ot i'm sure they'll be down to visit me at some point.
We're not planning on getting other people presents this year, but if we get the money and time i may just get a 3 for 2 from boots set as a little gift just so i feel a little better!

I knew someone was really organised - it was you DB! lol
Well the ILs live 4 hours away and in the past we go down for boxing day and the 27th, then I have to be back nearer home (and some years even having to travel 2 hours in the opposite direction) for the 28th as it's my Nan's birthday. This year though the ILs (and SIL, hubby's nan and aunt) are all renting a house not too far from us for the christmas week. So our rough plan is that we'll spend Christmas day with ILs (as hubby has managed to avoid that for YEARS!! lol) at the very nice rental house, the ILs then might invite us and my parents up for boxing day eve, then ont he 27th have 'christmas' with my parents, and 28th (same day that the ILs go home) it's my Nan's b'day and she'll have to travel to my parents and stay with them for celebrations. So although that sounds like a lot of travelling about, not only is it NOTHING compared to what we normally do, but no-where is more than a half hour drive away and we don't have to cook!!!!
Of course, this is all assuming the baby's here! Everyone will know that if the baby isn't, they had best just carry on without us!! lol We'll play it by ear!
Good question about the christmas cards lawso. What's everyone else going to do??

Hi honey
Yeah I have given it a little thought. DH's family don't do "planning" which annoys me but this year i'm saying we are doing nothing at all as I don't know where we will be in terms of baby. I'm due 20th so could come anytime in Decmeber really! If people get annoyed I dont' really care, there will be no travelling, no arranging for dinner at others just in case. If we are home ages before xmas then will most probably go to my mums as she will just fit around us. If I get to 20/21st and baby not here then will go and get turkey etc from m&S like DB says and will plan to have it at home if baby doesn't make an appearnce on xmas day.
With presents, i'm going to start thinking about them in about 4/6 weeks when my cover comes into place as I'll have time to think! Family I hardly see but do buy for will be 3for2 in boots as TTC says.
LAwso - I think i'm going to put from me, nick and bump as i'm going to get these written and sent by end of November and I doubt baby will be here. I don't want to not include our little one as I still feel like it's here in spirit!

I've recently started thinking about this as I'm due on Xmas Day. Hubby and I are hoping baby may come a week or so early (maybe even on my bday 15th).
I said to hubby I'll make sure we've got a chicken in the freezer and a load of veggies in just in case and then mentioned to my mum the other day that if baby arrives early I wont want to go anywhere on xmas day, just chill out at home with baby, so would she mind coming to mine and cooking the dinner? she was excited at this thought and is even wanting to stay over. bless her,
not thought about xmas presents yet, i will probably do a lot of shopping online nearer the time to save going out into the town.
xx

obv its a bit easier for me re xmas cards as i know it will be well before xmas but id planned to write them all and leave space for babies name and post them by the 16th. if baby hadnt arrived was just gonna put and bump.
gonna be thrifty now i know babe is arriving end of november and put birth announcement in with xmas card.
xxDBxx
ps for those who will be heavily overdue by xmas most hospitals will offer to do a sweep or induce you a bit earlier to try and miss christmas as they dont like to have any 'planned' labours on xmas day x

I too have given this a little bit of thought.
I am going to buy family presents as usual, we just might be a bit tighter on our presents to each other as past years have been very extravagant and this year we need to think about money more.
I am due on 17th December so no idea if baby will be here before after or during christmas! But really hoping that its before and that babys a week early! but know that it will come when ready!
As for christmas day we always go to my parents on christmas eve and stay to boxing day. we go to hubbys nans to see her and his aunt and cousins and his brothers as we all meet there in the afternoon on christmas day as its only a 10 minute drive. then back to my mums. so as long as baby isnt here we will be doing the same as they only live a 15 minute drive away and the hospital is inbetween us and them so will make no difference.
But if babys here I am thinking we will stay at home on christmas eve and go to my mums in the morning stay for dinner go to his nans maybe in the evening and then home. But it does all depend how we all are and I know that is all flexible so not too worried.
xx

I haven't got a clue what we'll be doing for Christmas this year. Baby is due 19th so whether or not he'll be joining us for Christmas is anyone's guess.
My OH is a chef and usually has to work over the holidays - not this year though if baby's already arrived - so I tend to go to either my parents' house or to my sister's, but they both live 1 1/2 - 2 hr away and my ILs are about the same distance. I don't want to be miles from 'my' hospital (or OH) if baby is going to arrive and if he's already here then I'll probably want to be at home anyway, though not on my own if OH has to work...
Oh I don't know, it's all too complicated and I can't think straight anyway! We've got time yet to decide...

I haven't really thought about it yet. I think that I may do some shopping online but as I doubt I'll be working in December so it will probably give me something else to focus on and will hopefully make time go quicker haha. Baby is due 19th Dec so if 2 wks late like with my 1st then could be looking at any time into early Jan. I usually go to my nan's over Chrimbo and I will try and do that this year and then go to my o/h's parent's on Boxing Day...depending on when baby comes.
