Subject : Devastated
HI ladies,
I feel absolutely devastated, I went for a hycosy yesterday and my right tube is blocked, left one fine but the dye would not go through the right alone.
I didn't expect this and have spent the last 24hrs crying and feel totally in shock.
Now waiting for appt to see gynae again, but just wondered if anyone could offer any hope/advice or advise me what next steps may be?
Thanks
Em J xx

Oh honey, I'm sorry, you poor thing must be very upsetting. You have these tests as it's just the procedure to just go through them all but don't really expect bad news do you!
I've not had mine yet (Monday) so I don't know what the results mean to offer any reassurance or advice but I assume there's some hope in that lovely left tube of yours...? I guess you still have a chance of it happening naturally it just might take longer... I hope you get some answers soon lovey whether from here or your gynae.
Have all your other results been ok so far?? How about your OH has he had his SA?
((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))
OP xx

hello chick really sorry to hear this from memory your ovaries take it in turns to ovulate so I would assume that if you are oving ok etc that it would be every other month that you would be able to conceive with the side with the unblocked tube, however it would be working out which month it would be, I oculd be totally wrong here but and hopeful for you that if one is working then there is deffo hope for you chick
sending you big hugs xx

Ah sweetie - I don't know too much about this but I think corrective procedures can take place if necessary. Try not to fret (I know, I know) until you see the doc. I have mine on Weds xxx

Oh honey try not to panic too much, this really isn't the worse news thou i'm sure it seems like it at the mo.
When i went for my HSG both my tubes were completely blocked and i thought that was it no babies.
However once i went for my follow up appointment they expalined all the options available which for me meant having a lap/dye and tuboplasty which got me one working tube back- like u!
ur gyne will probably tell u this....
The chances of concieving with one tube is the only a few % less than with two this is because even if you OV only on one side (say the blocked) or alternatively its quite possible for the eggs to pass to the unblocked tubes their actually not that far apart as what ur biology diagrams would have you think, but rather right next to each other.
So your chances of concieving are still pretty high if u OV, good SA etc.
They might even suggests clomid to help in OV if they think its necessary.
What i'm trying to say is don't give up this isn't the end i'm PROOF that you can concieve with ONLY ONE TUBE, i'm currently 14+6 with twins!!
Smile honey u'll be fine, sending u all the luck in the world!!
Lilac*

Just to add- Lilac is right
If a remember rightly from my anatomy class the tubes and ovaries sit round the back of the uterus so actually the egg can go down either tube hence the reason its only a few less percent than with two. Try not to panic and stress too much altough i know it must be hard but its not the end to things, you still have a really good chance each month.
hugs

Hey Em,
Please do not dispair ..one is better than none right?!
I am in exactly the same boat, with only one patent tube and when I saw my consultant after the "titbit" of information the radiologist tells you, he was very reassuring. Lilac* has given fab advice and gives us all hope!
My consultant has prescribed me Clomid to assist the ovulation. He has given me 3 cycles and then have to go back for further guidance.
He also explained that sometimes your tube can simply just go into spasm which is why the dye can't get through - although I think unlikely in my case as the same side ovary is heavily cysted!
So, do not cry ... keep positive!!
You are not alone xxxxx

Ah hun thats horrible. It good that all your other tests results are ok. These things are so easy to sort out now days, you probably just need a routine procedure and before you know you'll be getting you BFP. Try and stay positive and dont give up xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Em J
These girls have given such lovely and great advice and know much more about this than I do, so just to say lots of luck and I really hope that this diagnosis means that your BFP is even closer now that they've found the problem and can help.

Hey honey please don't give up. If you are ovulating and OH'S SA results are okay and you have one clear tube you still have a good chance of conceiving.
Take some time to digest the news you have had and I am sure you will come back with more positivity. Lots of women have gone on to have babies with much worse odds than you have so please have confidence that it will happen for you. ((((hugs))))) x
