Subject : Itching help!!

I am 28+3 and am being driven mad with itchy skin on my stomach! My whole bump is itchy and its keeping me awake during the night. I am putting moisturising cream on it loads which helps for about 5 mins and have tried vitamin e cream on advice of the midwife but its still itching like mad!! Last resort is seeing the GP for some sort of piriton type cream but thought i'd check with you ladies first!!

Has anyone else had this and has anyone found something that will stop it!?

Hi,
I had horrendous itching on my legs for weeks. It has gone away now but from what the Doctor and Midwife say it is a common side effect of Pregnancy. I like you used lots of moisturiser but the doctor said use allergy tablets as a last resort under their advise. Dont worry about it (as annoying as it is) you should only become concerned if it starts on your palms or feet as this can be due to a problem with your liver. Hope it eases I know how god awful it is! x

Hi go to your doc or MW and they can prescribe you piriton tablets, that are safe whilst preg. I had it and the tablets got rid of it. Only down side is the tabs make you drowsy, better than itching though!!

unofrtunatly it is not only on your hands and feet that can be oc-this is a myth. the itching can be anywhere and everywhere.
with any kind of itching you need to see your midwife asap and have a LFT to rule out oc as it can be potentially fatal.
So please call midwife without delay and ask to be checked for obstetric cholestasis.,xxx

goodluck and i hope for your babies sake its not.x
