Subject : Had to ask my Mum about my cycles from before the pill!

Bless my Mum! She's aware of our plans to start ttc soon and I used to think she'd be a pain in the backside and not understand but she's been a doll!

After 3 kids, she's got some good experience behind her and I used to think "oh, I'm so independant, things are different today, blah blah" that I wouldn't value her advice, but we had a chat yesterday and she really impressed me. I reckon she'll be a good'un to have on board when the time comes.

Anyway, I was chatting about my cycles from before the pill and said I couldn't remember what they were like. I'm almost 30, left home at 18 and been on the pill for 13 years. She told me I was pretty regular and on 30-day cycles, cool! I honestly couldn't remember (well, I guess it's not that vital in your teens!).

I don't know why I'm so excited about this, or felt it warranted a post. I am overwhelmed with ttc thoughts at the mo that it's totally taking over!

I'll go and sit back down now, quietly, in the corner and calm down... WhateeeEver!

*gives a little hop, skip and a kick on the way though*

wow my mum wouldnt have a clue!

i think i tried to hide it from her when i started my period and never talked to her about it. then i went on the pill when i was 16. the only comforting thing for me is that i came off the pill for about a year (2 or 3 yrs ago) and my cycles returned to normal immediately - but i'mm on a different pill now

my mum keeps dropping some not-so-subtle hints that shhe wants grandchildren soon - i would love to tell her but hubby and i have agreed not to tell anyone we're trying
yesterday my mum was going on about how she had been babysitting her neighbour's 1 yr old and how much she had loved being around a baby again LOL!

isnt it funny how things like this make you appreciate your mum - i had no real relationship with my mum until we started wedding planning but she was amazing and is a great source of advice now that im married

i actually think she would make a much better birth partner than hubby!

you must be relieved to hear you had regular cycles!

I was suprised she knew so certain, but she was quite a 'hands on' mum when I was growing up and pretty up front about things like that. Just as well! ha ha.

Funny though, she's quite independent now and whilst she'd be happy for me having a baby as she knows I really want one, she wouldn't be fussed if I said I never wanted children. She already has two grandsons from my sister, so has no urges.

My MiL - now that's a totally different story!! ha ha. She's been after a grandchild ever since we got married and drops hints on a regular basis. When we told we had to delay it, she was quite crushed, but knows I've had treatment, so is now hinting all the time again... She knows our plans, but I'm not going to tell her when we definately start - the pressure would be immense!

Reeeally pleased to hear I had regular cycles, but I know from reading on here that straight after the pill, they can go haywire!

Here's hoping I don't have too many to have to find out... wink wink
