After my GTT i have been referred to a diabetic consultant as my levels came back high which means the lovely gestational diabetes! I had my first appt with the consultant yesterday and he has frightened me a little about the actual birth saying that i probably won't be able to give birth at the hospital i have chosen as they have just closed the special care baby unit, he never really said what the complications are during labour apart from i will have to be closely monitored etc and there was talk of delivering me at 38 weeks but everything was ifs and buts!

I was just wondering if anybody has had any experience of labour/birth when they've had gestional diabetes and what actually happens to you and the baby??
