Subject : would you leave Lo for weekend?

I cant cope with ILs anymore!! They are in the house all day every day (fil unemployed, mil works from home).

We have put in an offer on a house (don't expect it to be accepted but we can make another one!!) and haven't heard yet. We can't afford to go on a proper holiday as sil's wedding is abroad next year so we need to save for that!!

Oh has asked mil to have Gabe for a weekend at the end of this month so we can go away. Would you do it? He's 14 months. I love the idea of it but worry I'll miss him too much and he'll forget me?!

I think you should go for it. He is well used to your in laws especially as you are living with them so he will still be at home. Don't worry he won't forget you at all. Go and enjoy yourself.

I would go for the weekend. Gabe is 14 months old so he will know who you are when you get back. Would be great for both of you. Means Gabe gets a super chilled out relaxed Mummy!

I am leaving my kids in 4 wks to go to London for 4 nights - leaving them with DH but really looking forward to a little break

Personally i couldnt. But its very hard for me to put myself in your situation as gracie faye doesnt "like" anyone else but me or daddy so i know she would be miserable were as Gabe loves his nanny doesnt he??

He certainly will not forgot you over one weekend hun so dont think silly thoughts like that!! Im sure he will have a great time and so will you.

I sometimes wish me and Lee had someone just so we could have a break! even a night out together would be nice !!

I say go for it even know i couldnt xxxxxxxxx

I left my son last month for a whole week whilst I went to Turkey and he was 5 months old... YES, I missed him loads but he stayed with my parents and then with my partners parents (he was more spoilt than ever!!) As long as your little one is with someone who loves them then I really don't think it matters... You do have to have a break once in a while and you still have your own life, one day they will take off anyway .. lol ... Go and enjoy it xxxx

Yes definately. It is good for him to get used to being looked after by others anyway. And its good for you to have a break too.

YES!

We have no family here in America and nobody that I would leave Isla with.. OH and I never even get out for a dinner together and quite frankly we are dying to do so - we haven't been out just the two since before she was born and she's almost 17 months.

I think it's healthy and good to get away from your kids for a few days. Your relationship is so important and if it's healthy, your kids will know it.

He's 14 months so I'm sure he'll be fine but I'm sure you'll still miss him..

xx

Yes definitely!

SBJr and TJ regularly stay at my sisters for the night and we left them with my mum for the whole weekend a couple of weeks ago and had a fab time!

You need some time out for yourselves - Gabe won't forget you and he'll be absolutely fine!

Go and have fun! I know a great little guest house in Windermere, just a few mins walk from Lake Windermere. Highly recommend it! Very friendly, reasonable prices and lovely breakfast!! Let me know if you want the details. It's only 2.5hrs from us so probably closer for you x

Go and have a naughty weekend ;o)

100% yes.... we left lauren when she was 18 months for 2 weeks while we went away to be married and have honeymoon. She totally remembered me and ran to me at airport gate. she had no ill effects and is not scarred in any way! (i think!!!) I needed the break and i appreciated her so much more when I got back...

Go for it..she will be fine and all mums need a break from time to time.

Definately go for it!
Gabe is 14 months and will fine, especially if he is good with other people which is great!
You know that he will be in safe hands so go and enjoy yourself.
I can understand that you may be a little concerned, i dont know if i could leave Lea for a whole weekend but only because i am the one that looks after her everyday all day and id feel strange leaving her lol! I think you deserve the break so go for it, and im sure he will be so excited to see you when you return home which will be a good feeling! xx

Go for it hun, its not as if your leaving him with strangers and sounds like your ccould do with some time from the IL's. ME and oh are hoping to go away at new year/early next year to amsterdam and I cant wait! don't think I could leave him yet but when he's a lil older definately as I know he'd get spoilt by grandparents x

I would, and i am! Me and hubby are going on a 2 night mini break to Amsterdam at the end of the month. Lucy will be almost 10 months and she is staying with my mam and dad. She stays over at either Grandparents pretty much once a week and has a whale of time! I'll miss her so so much (as i do when she stays out 1 night) but i'm sooooo looking forward to the time with huby x

As every one else has said - Go for it!.

He won't forget you and at least your inlaws know him well. DH and I would love just 24 hours away now. It will do you all good.

Good to know others would do the same. He is very close to his nan she's like a 2nd mum to him. So I would have no worries about leaving him or him missing me.

He has already stayed with his grandparents overnight once and also with sil once but a weekend just seems a long time. I guess I am more worried about mil than Gabe as she's only 46 and I want her to have her own life too cos she does look after Gabe an awful lot. Oh well I suppose she'll say no if she doesnt want to do it!

SB, we'll be staying in the in laws caravan in wales - we just don't have cash to go anywhere else though that place sounds fab!
