Subject : Planning for a baby but may have PCOS

Hi I posted a thread before about my period not coming, well it still hasn't and I'm on cd54 and I tested negative last Friday. So probably not pregnant. It's the first period I've ever missed. Have been on pill since 16 and was on for 6 years, came off in Jan this year and this is my 4th cycle since being off it, my first 3 were 35, 39 and 37 days. Before pill it was about 35 day cycles and I never missed one.
So went dr on Friday and absolutely bawled it when she suggested I may have PCOS. I have suspected it before as my periods aren't perfectly regular and cycles are long, I easily gain weight and am currently overweight, still get spots and get hair on my chin I have to pluck out. I had blood tests for all the different hormones and will go back this Friday for the results and I'm so scared. And if I haven't got it then what else could the problem be?

Any of you ladies got PCOS and will be trying for your first sometime soon?

Or some of you already have children and can share your experience?

My husband and I are only 22 and have just celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary but I am terrified about not being able to have children or it being hard to conceive if I do have PCOS. I know there is a spectrum of how seriously you have it and I've looked a lot about it on the internet but how will it really affect my fertility? We may be TTC very soon and it would break my heart if I could never have a child as it's something we've always dreamed of and we're just about ready now.

Thanks guys!
X

oh OneDayBaby massive hugs

just try not too assume the worst - i think it can affect everyone differently so try to keep your chin up

my sister has endometriosis and she was initially terrified as all the stuff on the internet says it can make you infertile - but once she saw the doctor and had a laproscopy they found that it only affects one ovary so shouldnt stop her having children

try to hold onto your PMA - sending you lots of baby dust xx
