Subject : Still not felt the baby kick... normal??
Hi
Back again with another question. I am 20 weeks today and still haven't really felt the baby move let alone kick!
I have had a few feelings over the past few weeks that I've put down to the baby. I am bigger (16) and its my first baby but is it normal not to have really felt anything??
Heard the heartbeat at 17 weeks and will hear it again on Thursday but no scan as I'm in Glasgow. Just looking for a bit of reassurance!!

I had a panic at 17 weeks cos I didnt feel anything and felt small but the midwife i saw on the labour ward said it was completely normal to not even feel anything until 22 weeks. so dont worry yourself. you heard the heartbeat which is a great sign that everything is going well and you will surely here this again on thursday.
it bewilders me why we dont all get scanned at 20 weeks!! do they not offer that in glasgow? i get them in london no problem on nhs, so i dont really know what its like where they dont offer them. can you try insist they scan you on thurs or is it a point blank NO?

Thanks. No there is no chance of a scan. They don't scan in my area. Thinking about paying for a private one.

that is just ridiculous! sorry to hear that. grrrrr
maybe go pay for a private one if it makes you feel better. it will reassure you and plus, its nice to see whats going on in there as an added bonus!

Hey hunny,
I think that its absolutley normal - I felt flutters at 17 weeks but I knew I was REALLY lucky to have felt this as this is certainly the earliest they mention you can feel it - they say 16-24 weeks so you still have another two weeks before id even think about it hun.
Also I think something to take into account is that when I was feeling those first movements it was very much like wind but slightly different - you could just be mistaking the feelings and could go on to feel full on kicks any time now... I certainly think this is what is going to happen with u!
Hope that helps hun, lookin forward to the message when you say you have felt baby!!
Also if you want more reasurance I think that private scans are very expensive - you could get a brand new doppler on Ebay for around £15-£25 and would last you throughout the pregnancy and subsequent pregnancies so think that would be a better investment!!
