Subject : Sleeping/feeding help with lo 12wks
Hi Ladies
My lo will be 12wks on friday and wondering if anyone can give us some advice?
She generaly feeds every 3 hours during the day & then goes from 7-12 then feeds then goes bk to sleep then wakes anything between 4-5hrs later but at this feed doesnt really seem interested in her bottle and struggles to take 2-3oz's.
Should we try and give her water at this 4am/5am feed? as we are wondering whether she may just be waking out of habit?
She also doesnt really seem that interested in her first morning feed at around 8am-9am?
Prob should mention she generally has 6 5oz/4oz feeds in 24hrs total.
She weighed 9lb 11oz 2 weeks ago and has generaly been putting on in excess of 8oz a week.
She was 5lb 5oz at birth and was full term. (i had very high bp which caused my placenta not to function properly, altho at all our growth scans the flow going my baby from my placenta was showing "normal")
Any advice would be greatly appreciated ladies
Thanks

Hi hun
I would try offering water at the night feed, if she isnt really bothered with it it may well just be waking out of habit or for comfort. Does she have a dummy?
Not really got any advice about the morning feed though, maybe just wait until she's really asking for it?

Charlotte went thru a phase where she was asking for food but not taking very much (2ozs-3ozs) so I spoke to my hv and she advised I switch to hungrier baby (this was at 11 weeks old) as she must be hungry but unable to take any more volume; and also ensure she gets a bottle of water with OJ in it to prevent constipation and it certainly did the trick.
She stopped wanting to feed so frequently going back to 3 hourly during the day and was sleeping from 6pm to 6am by 12 weeks. We would feed her at 6pm before bed then dreamfeed her between 10pm-11pm.
We generally get through 6 bottles a day of which I make 5oz ones but she usually takes around 3ozs to 4ozs and maybe 3ozs to 4ozs of water/orange juice.
You could try the hungrier baby see if it makes your lo drop the nightime feed ?

Hi
My lo wakes at about 5am ish but doesn't want a feed but wakes from habit, and to come to bed and snuggle with me!!! Since its been warmer I have been giving her some water when she wakes (between 1 and 2oz) just to keep her hydrated. I don't give her milk as I don't want her to wake during the night for a feed.
Like your lo, Amelia never cries for her morning feed, does show a little interest when she see's the bottle!! She takes the first feed very slowly, more interested in looking around and laughing at the cats!!!
