Subject : Is it true?
The older you are the more tired you get?
I got preg with my dd at 33 (my first) and was wrecked but then I was anemic the entire pregnancy and have tendancies to be even when I'm not pregs.
My MW suggested Spatone liquid iron which turned out to be a godsend - it's amazing and I still use it.
Next year I'll be 36 and we're planning on #2. Do you think I'll be even more tired?
To think I'll be pregs and have a 2 yo scares me. She's an active girl and keeps me on my toes.

Hi Heather
I don't really know, I think it is more down to you as a person, my DS is 10 and really active with football and all other sports, so we are busy with all those,
I'm 38 and 7 weeks pregnant and feel pretty pants at the moment, but I did 10 years ago with my son.
I have just been away for the weekend to London, to celebrate a friends hen night, we have walked miles around London and out till the early hours, although I was tired, I kept up with them all and they were all at least 10 younger than myself.
Don't know if that helps, take care
from
D x

Good question
I use it as an excuse all the time that I would have had more energy if I had the children when I was younger.I am 36 and have a 7 year old and a 2 year old.
I would love more children but I am feeling tired and old at the moment with the two I have.I feel that my childbearing age is over as we have not been using any contraception for 2 years and nothing has happened.!!
I was unwell with both my pregancys which made the tiredness worse.
I think that maybe children are just exhausting no matter what age you are ?

Although I've nothing to compare with as I'm 37 and 17 weeks pregnant with my first but I think there's probably some truth in it. There's no doubting that generally we aren't as fit as we were in our early twenties and our bodies are less likely to respond well to change. But I think there are huge advantages for being older and believe we are far more mature, relaxed and able to cope with pregnancy better. Well that's my thoughts so far LOL! xx

I just had baby number 2 at 37 and ( she is 5 weeks old ) and we are going to try for another straight away.
I am definitely more tired in the day but I am a lot more patient and laid back than when I had our little boy at 31.
I just think we need to listen to our bodies more and chill out a bit more ( if possible ) I work part time now and didnt when I had our boy so perhaps thats to do with it 0 oh, and the dog we now have too !!
I agree - keep trying, take extra vitamins and minerals if necessary and take it easy ...

Thanks for the replies ladies...
I really think I'll be as tired and possibly even more tired with a toddler under foot. Either way I've got to suck it up and deal with it bc we do want #2 and this will be our last babe. Can't say I'm looking forward to it though but if I'm not as tired, it will be an unexpected blessing!

I had my DS when I was 28. DD arrived 7 months ago when I was 36. I definitely found my pregnancy for DD more tiring and physically demanding than first time around and I put it down to being 8 years older. Having said that, in the beginning I felt much iller with DD than with DS and it could be that I was more drained because I was carrying a girl rather than a boy - different concentration of hormones etc.

My name is Jess and I work for a London based television production company
called Renegade Pictures.
We are currently producing a 1 hour authored documentary on pregnancy for
the BBC, featuring Cherry Healey. In the film Cherry will meet seven other
pregnant women at seven different ages and stages of pregnancy. Through
their personal stories and experiences we hope to discover more about the
changing trends in conception, pregnancy, birth and early motherhood across
women of all ages in the UK.
It is thought that the number of women giving birth over the age of 40 has
doubled in 10 years, and I feel that to illustrate this well it would be
fantastic for Cherry to meet someone close to the age of 40 or over who has
become pregnant, either naturally or through a donor egg or insemination.
If there is anyone who would be willing to share their experience with
Cherry or is interested to find out more about the documentary I would love
the opportunity to speak to you confidentially.
Please contact me at jess.honeyball@renegadepictures.co.uk or 020 7479 4215
Kind regards
Jess
