Gatecrashing from pregnancy to pick the brains of any of you who have any experience of this?

I am really interested in hypnobirthing, and figure that even if it makes no difference to the birth, it's still a good way to learn to relax in the run up to it. I feel a bit panicky when I think about labour, and I want to think happy thoughts la la la Happy

Does anyone have any recommendations of good CDs/books to buy that helped you?

Thanks
Coco 30+3 xx

Hypnobirthing

Hi Coco,

I used natal hypnotherapy cds throughout pregnancy and used the birthing music during labour. I found it really relaxing and, although most of the techniques went out the window during labour as it was very quick and intense, I was very aware of the music and felt that it really kept me calm. It's definitely worth a try!

Hypnobirthing

I am fortunate in that my hubby is a psychologist and has a specialism in hypnotherapy! He taught me some very simple relaxation and breathing techniques which enabled me to do my whole 13 hours of labour with just those and my wonderful TENs machine!! No-one spoke to me during a contraction - those were my rules!!! I had some very intense contractions as I was induced (unsuccessfully I may add and so ended up with c-section!) and I had to have the strongest amount of syntocin in the drip... It was a question of keeping your focus during the contractions - there were a couple where I lost it when Daisy's heartbeat dipped and I was worried - I have to say that they really bloody hurt!! But once her heartbeat settled, I go the focus back and we carried on well until they stuck the flippin spinal block in! I was gutted as I'd done so much of it with no pain relief and then had that, but hey ho, that's life!

Hope this helps to hear a positive experience!

C xx
