Subject : honest truth about motherhood

hi, im grace im from the planning a baby forum and i posted this for my girls, so i thought id share it with you. i have a 15 moth old daughter.

motherhood is the most difficult job in the world, one day your life will revolve around changing nappies and mountains of washing and relentless hours of breastfeeding or washin and sterilising bottles, taking shortcuts to make thing easier like making all the bottles for th eday at once instaed of freshly every time babys hungry. this of course is pretty much impossible! the 15 minutes it takes to prepare a fresh bottle and hold it under the tap u ntil its cool, passes like its really an hour, that happens a lot when u have a screaming baby. u will sware nevr to bribe your toddler with the odd treat, but a few choclolate buttons is small price to pay whilst you sit with a cuppa and watch 10 mins of uninteruppted daytime television. you will find that as soon as youve changed your babys nappy, they WILL poo!! no question about it!! and as soon as they are dressed in a morning, you can gaurantee that they will have puked on themselves within 8 mins! when changing there nappy, at some point, they will spray poo everywhere! and it will run down ur walls, this is especially true if you have a breastfed baby! and they will pee, as soon as you wrap a towel round them after a bath, and then you will have to bath them again! and wait for the first time that you bathing them alone when they are about 1 year old and they decided to poo in the bath but it is hiddenn under the bubbles and you only realise when you pour a jug or water over there head and a peice of pea is on thier hair! when they are a lovely delicate newborn, the chances of them doing the most explosive and eggy smelling poo just as you hand them for a cuddle to one of ur baby-less friends, is enevitable.they will poo out the sides of their nappy and all down thier clothes in fron of the health visitor and you will be left feeling like she is thinking that you leave them in poo all day! when they get to crawling age, they will try to eat everything! mud, pennys, rubbish and as i recentky discovered, raw garlic cloves! but, what people dont really tell you is how special you feel when u gaze into thier basket in a morning and all you see is the most beautiful gummy smile, and their eyes light up as they see your face, the cutest little face they pull when they are looking at you whilst feeding from your breast and cradling your body within their tiny little hands, the look of complete and utter elation and you cam hear the quietest little squeaking noise as they swallow and its enough to make your heart melt, even if there jaw is like a small vice around your nipple! and once all the bathing and changing and laundry and bottles, and disinfecting and hoovering is done, the few precious moments you get to spend with your beloved child, are the happiest that you will ever spend and it is definately enouigh to make you forget about how hard work it is. how rewarding it is to see your child at the local play area with the othe kids and think to yourself, ''wow, i raised that child, and shes perfect''. words cannot explain the good points, only the bad points. so you have to take solace in knowing that however much they can drive you up the wall and make you close to tears, you will always worship the ground they walk (or toddle) on, and you would do anything for your precious angels.

this is my account of motherhood, it wasnt copied from anywhere else. and its all 100% true! good luck girls! grace xxx

So true! I love the way William strokes my side when I'm breast feeding him and now he's starting to smile all the sleepless nights are truly worthwhile - so much so I'm already broody for another and he's only 7 weeks old! x
