Subject : CBFM vs BD'ing everyday...

Hello ladies,

Having an evening to myself, I've been spending far too much time reading about TTC on the internet...!

I have been thinking about getting a clearblue fertility monitor...however, I was wondering - if we BD every day once AF has buggered off, is there any advantage of using a CBFM - other that actually knowing when you are ov'ing???

Any views would be gratefully received!!

Kristen xx Smile

Hi Kristen,

I'd have thought that bding every day would be just as effective, if you can manage it until you are sure you have ov'd. Do you have quite regular cycles and have the other signs of ewcm etc? Otherwise you might not know when you have to stop! I think that study about bding every day said it was good for a week or so around ov didn't it? We would never manage it though lol!

I guess the advantages of the cbfm are that you know when it is important to bd and at least you know when the 2ww has started. On the other hand I think it is quite expensive isn't it, and don't you have to poas every day (is that a + or - lol!)?

hey!

since my d&c in april my cycles have been a bit out of whack - i used to be dot on 28-days but have had 31 and 39 day cycles since so i don't really know when i'm ov'ing...

you've got me thinking about poas - that's actually the big -ve really - although i enjoy the whole poas process, i think it will make me obsess about ttc even more, and although bd'ing everyday will be a bit exhausting (especially if this heat continues...not that i'm complaining!) i think that would be preferable... I get really down if i think about it too much.

i've never really been a CM observer but think i will try this cycle - also people talk about cervix position? have you ever done this?!

xx

I know what you mean about obsessing even more, I used OPKs for the first time this month because I was getting really confused with a 17 day AF and it made me get quite stressed about it all. I tried a bit with cervix position this month. To start with I didn't have a clue but then noticed a big difference around ov, and now it is back to the same as it was before. I'm still not sure about high/low etc though but apparently it comes with practise, how nice!

Hi Kristen

I have been trying out the CBFM this month for the first time and it is my 2nd cycle since my MMC so was not convinced but it seems to be working and got my peak today :)

I am not sure either me or DH has it in them to BD every day so at least with this you get some warning and can build up to everyday when it counts!!

Hopefully whatever we choose it will work. Good luck.

ooh, brill news about getting your peak debbie - let us know!!!

we are sticking to bd'ing every day...trouble is that my last cycle was 39 days due to flipping d&c (on 3rd cycle since now) so i'm not sure when the 2ww will start for me....oh well!!!

did you read that post about the advantages of bd'ing everyday as it reduced the numbers of sperm with faulty DNA? worth bearing in mind (lots of girls said they would tell their oh's to 'sort themselves out' when it wasn't critical time so could be an option!!!)

Hey Kristen

you certainly hve more stamina then me!!!!!! I think if you are having that much sex then the CBFM wouldnt make that much of a difference! as you will be doing it at the right time and plenty of it!!!

as for me I couldnt be that active, not so much me but my hubby wouldnt cope with that much, for that reason I bought the CBFM after we had our first mc when it was on offer in tesco at £25, probably helped that it was a bargain. I must say I love it, more so because it makes me feel I have a little more control over my conception journey. and we caught with it the 2nd month of using it. sadly that ended in a mmc but it did what it said on the packet!

Its whatever is right for you hun

Love Luc xxx
