Subject : Im having my internal scan tomorrow, (updated)

Hi Ladies,

As the title says, i would like to know if i should ask questions tomorrow, I have read somewhere that the sonogropher will say if they find anything? is this right?

Just to fill you in its been 51/2 months since last af and before that was november, i have a feeling i may have PCOS, i know some symptoms are being overweight and spots, well im not overweight but i have since coming off pill had very bad spots on chin and jaw area, and i mean
like massive ones (sorry tmi)lol

I know some Ladies here have been diagnosed with PCOS, when you were what was the next course of action, i know i'm being a step ahead as not even had the scan yet but i have so many questions in my head and i know you ladies are so helpful and know what im going through.
xx

When I had my scan I asked if it looked like I'd ovulated but was told my womb lining was still thin and I asked if my ovaries were polycystic and she said they were and described what they looked like. She said mine had lots of tiny little follicles that weren't maturing hence no ov. My consultant looked at the scan info and prescribed Metformin which I've just started. I don't fit the typical picture of someone with PCOS either, am not overweight or have excess hair, but I do get a few big spots.

Hope your scan goes well and you get some answers xx

i would just ask them to talk through what they are seeing on the screen and point things out as they go along.

Just be relaxed and don't be embarrassed as the sonographers do these every day. I've had several of these now and they don't worry me any more.

Hi hales, when I went for mine I didnt ask any questions, I was so nervous and didnt really know what to expect. I went back to my doctors for the results and she talked through everything with me and reffered me to a specialist.
He sent me for hsg and more bloods to doubly confirm and im now on clomid (or a similar drug as i am taking part in a clinical trial in my city).

Hope you get some answers while you are there it was really frustrating waiting another wk for the results xx

Hi Ladies,

Well it was as i thought i have PCOS, there were loads of little cyst on each overy, no other nasties she said so thats good, my womb lining was very thin which proves not ov'd, i last ov'd on 21st Jan and i was so excited on that day,
I have a Doc's appointment tomorrow evening to see what my Doc suggests.
I have heard that some women with PCOS still have regular periods but think im one of those who only ov's about once or if im lucky twice a year.
The Sonogropher was really nice and explained what she could see and pointed bits out to me. I felt stupid when i came out on the car journey home my OH was speaking to me and i was quietly crying, how stupid am i, i sort of kmew i had it any way and already know how common it is, my OH realised i was crying and was supportive and is being positive.
does any one know if the GP can medicate me or does he need to refer me on a gyne consulatant etc? xx

Hey hon,.I have PCOS and after having the scan to confirm, they sent me for a hysterosalpingogram (put dye p through cervix to check whether it flows through Fallopian tubes to see if they are blocked etc). My DH SAwas also tested. I am now about to start clomid which is a drug to induce ovulation. Do not dispair there are many things that can be done to help us PCOS girls Wink. To answer your question, I think you will now need to be referred to a Gynae as it is them that arranged all of the above for me xx

Hi hales, I have pcos too and had a similar experience to anotherbabyplease. I was reffered to a specialist and had a hsg xray to check my tubes and dh had sa done.
Some doctors do prescribe clomid tho but it largely depends on the doctor I think.

Good luck with the next steps honey xx
