Subject : Operation this Afternoon- So scared and can't stop crying

Well, the title basically says it all! I posted a couple of days ago saying how much pain I was in because I have something called a Bartholins Abscess. I went to hospital yesterday and they've booked me in for an op this afternoon. I'm looking forward to being out of pain but my god, I am so so worried about Peanut it's untrue!

I know the docs know what they're doing and they won't put Peanut in any danger BUUTTT I also know that there is a very slim chance that the op could cause me to go into pre-term labour!

Sorry for the rant, I just wondered if anyone else had to have an operation or anything similar whilst they were pregnant? I'm just really looking for reassurance that everything is going to be okay...

Oh honey, I don't know how it feels going through an operation in pregnancy, but just wanted to send you a hug. I know it's nigh on impossible, but please try to relax as that'll help. It's a slim chance, so think about it - the odds are way in your favour! I hope it goes well and look forward to reading that the pain has gone and you and Peanut are fine. :)

Best of luck sweetheart, put on some daft daytime TV and have a glass of water, it's really hot already!!!

Thanks so much Em... Your post has just made me well up again!! I am starving and could really do with a cup of tea but have to starve myself so yep, sipping water is all I'm left with!

I'm sat on the sofa with my legs up on my maternity pillow with a fan blowing a nice cool breeze up my skirt (abscess is in foo-foo area for anyone that doesn't know!- or may be interested!!) so that's making me feel better PLUS Peanut is wiggling like mad so I'm going to have a word in a minute and ask him to stay put for another 15 weeks or so!!

So sorry, didn't mean to make you well up again!!! I think I need to invest in a fan, I'm melting into a puddle here. It's trying to get the balance right between the amount of clothes I'm wearing and being able to have windows open - can't strip off too much or the neighbours won't be happy!!! x x x

Thanks MrsBlue.. I've already had the operation once before but the damn thing keeps returning! Mind you, I didn't give 2 hoots about having the op then cos I was in so much pain and not pregnant!! I am looking forward to being able to walk/ sit/ lie/ wee (sorry!) properly again after this afternoon, it's just Peanut I'm concerned about!

Em, my house is so so hot that without a fan I literally would melt a la the witch in 'The Wizard of Oz'!! Don't worry too much about your neighbours, they'll soon get over seeing you parading around with your bits and your bump out... mine have!! ha ha!! xxx

sounds like something you have to get done! if there was any real risk to peanut they wouldn't do it! and it will do peanut good if mummy is more comfortable!

take care x

poor you, I can't either imagine what it must be like, but just wanted to wish you and peanut all the best... just think what a relief it will be when its all over and done with, and the fact that peanut is giving you a lovely morning kick, must mean that he is giving you a reassuring hug too..
take care and let us know how it went..

I'm sending lots of good luck wishes for you both and for a speedy recovery.

Theres no way the Docs would do it if they thought the risk was too great, and we all know how the NHS will wriggle out of doing something thats costs them money, is too bigger risk and not really needed if they can! so its obviously for the best and the LAST thing they want is too hurt your baby.

You will be absolutely fine and your bean is obviously really strong and excited too if its dancing around in there, probably is looking forward to mummy not being in pain anymore.

Good luck xxxxxxxxxx

Hi Girlies,

Thankyou so much for all your replies and best wishes! I have just got home now cos I had to spend the night in the end- just a precaution because I had a spinal block (FYI- for anyone that may be considering an epidural... they are fab!!) so they wanted to make sure it didn't bring on premature labour!

Peanut wiggled like a goodun all night (so much so that at one point I did actually wonder if maybe all the movement in there may well be contractions!!Happy )

I'm home now and although a little sore (I have stitches in my foo... ouch!!!) the main thing is that Peanut is okay, so once again thankyou for thinking of us (how weird speaking about 'me' in the plural!) and I hope you're all having a lovely Friday! xxx

Great news Bert! As RAYNS says, we've all been thinking of you over in due in Oct, glad you're out of hospital and both ok.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.
